"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.154)

Man oh man, June has a hell of alot of B'days boy! I think I've attended at LEAST 5... just in one week alone! Well here are two more I quickly (like an hour tops) breezed through to this week past. The first one was my long time homie D-Nice's annual (must attend!) birthday party, which always bring out the best looking and mature crowd. I only spotted Grant Hill w/wife Tamia, and Datwon Thomas of XXL mag fame in the mix while I was there. I'm pretty sure more stars attended, but ya boy was BEAT from meeting all day so I bounced like a bunny EARLY! Then the very next day I attended a surprise B'day joint for "gate keeper extraordinaire" (of the hottest clubs in NYC) Mr. Chad, who was more than shocked by not only the party attendees, but also seeing his face plastered on make-shift masks and balloons all over the venue! Dope job you guys. I woulds stayed longer but I had a Zzzz train to catch to Sleepy Avenue.

"That's My Joint!" -Spike Lee Has Art

Due to a hectic weekend, I was lucky enough to catch the kick off event for the organically produced Spike Lee honor/tribute that Sallomazing & one Ashley Mui (and the help of others) put together (this past week, starting last Thurs) down at LIU's Brooklyn campus. The turn-out was a nice collective of close friends, family, creative minds, and Spike fans alike coming out in support of both the artist and the event. I snapped a few flicks of the Spike Lee inspired art and caught a quick few mins of the speakers panel being held. Kudos to the team! Based on the success of this I KNOW bigger things are in the works for you guys!

"The Trill(er) Is Gone!" -The King (Of Pop) Is Dead, Long Live The King (Of Pop)!

I'm pretty sure but now you've received the despairing text, e-mail, phone call, or been stopped on the street, informing you about passing of Michael Jackson. He was many things to many people besides the musical legend he had been destined to become. "The Gloved One", "The Moon Walker, "Mr. He He He" himself lived up to and way beyond everything people knew since the was a kid he'd become. I think that the reason he'll be so missed by his fans, is he gave them so much to miss. First the fearless kid prodigy lead singer of the Jackson 5. Then as the sequined jacket high watered, glimmering sock wearing dancing phenom that dominated the look & the sound of the 80's. To the tormented exiled "King", longing to revive his career and return to his former glory. Each carnation he went through, it seemed he became even larger then life each time! Kids born WAY after the time of his reign, STILL view him as a mystical like hero figure. Akin to Batman, Spiderman, Superman, then add Michael to that list, a real human being! He had become just that big. Ironically, I had a conversation with someone just reflecting on how the out pour of love for James Brown was like none I've EVER seen in my lifetime, "Can you just imagine what the turn out will be for Mike?" was what I questioned my friend aloud. Who know I'd be finding out sooner then I (or ANYONE for that matter) thought. Why do folks take the death of a public figure so hard? My theory is that once you do become so iconic around the world and in peoples mind, even death is beyond them. Death can be beyond them, if you keep that person in your heart and thoughts. R.I.P. MJ, I will always "Remember the Time" that I fell in love with your music.

"I'm A Touch The Sky..." The Return Of The Roof Top Party!

"...Come up in the spot looking extra fly."
-"Touch the sky" Kanye West

YES
, folks we can finally rejoice! According to the weather forecast, Mother Nature will stop PMS'n in time for Saturday to be on point. Hampton like even. Which works just fine for me, cause once again we're gonna try our hand at pulling off this roof top soiree' this Saturday. Block parties (which I'm having too, Aug 15th), pool parties, cook-outs/BBQ, picnics and such, are such symbolically known as Summer time events. Roof top parties are even rarer because frankly, WHO has roof top access in the city (besides hotel establishments)? So to be able to party at a lounge and go out and enjoy the night air w/out leaving club is a gift! You'll be cursing yourself if you don't attend.

Every Sat. starting...
Sat. June 27th
"the Roof Top" party
HK Lounge -405 W.39th St. near 9th ave.

"I've Fallen For You, Don't Ever Transform...Ummm Change!"-Transformers 2 Movie Review

Even though you could never tell by the weather we're having, Summer has officially started folks once a Transformer movie comes out! Now I grew up on this cartoon phenom, but wasn't so "jazzed" hearing about a movie adaption of it. So much so, that when the first one came out, I never caught a showing in the theaters (gasp!). I first viewed it on a flat screen club TV out in Philly (on mute), then later on cable at a hotel in between "humpin' " Which isn't the best way to follow a movie. But I do remember liking the first movie. Now on to Transformers 2, which we knew HAD to happen due to all the ca$h one made. Well think of part two as one on that "Barry Bonds juice!" Bigger, louder, and I went deafer lol. Now this is the stuff Summer block buster should be made of. Not to much hard thinking involved, alot of fight scenes, sexy on screen women, a lil' suspenseful, a lil' emotional, a lot of humor. This isn't an "oscar worthy" film, but it is what it is...which is pretty good. Trust me, It had it's plot (and script) "wtf?" moments, but the action is so quick, it's no time for deep thoughts about "HUH? Can someone PLEASE explain to me how that happened?" I think that's how the movie studios get you into seeing it again (lol). Anyways, that Fox chick? Holy franks & beans! At 2o feet tall on a screen, she is sooooo freakin' African summer heat HOT man! All she needs to do is adopt a few kids and Angelina Jolie's career is toilet tissue...a WRAP! Never mind can she act, no one's paying her to be Meryl Streep bro. I kept having to use the ice from my soda to cool my lap down the whole movie, plus a refill (LOL)! Shia, who plays pretty much THE SAME character in every movie (to me a least), was really good in this one. But with all the artifact searching in the film, it was like he was back on the set of "Raiders" again. On a different note, "Optimum On-Line Prime's" voice should be casted as the voice of God! It's just very commanding. However, I was NOT feeling the twin "Ghetto-bots" dawg. You mean to tell me that these aliens have spend egos on Earth, and traveled from light years away, only to transform into some souped up, foul-mouthed Dodge Neo's? Sporting gold "grills" huh? May as throw a NY fitted on him, and have their bumpers sagging in the back why don't you, my ni66a !?! Then with this bad economy, the N. Korea missle threat, and health care on Obama's already full plate. You gonna throw his name up in the mix, to solve some intergalactic fighting robots crisis too! Sheesh! That's also using our fuel (no hybrids were harmed in the making of this film)! Go "BOO" yourself Mr. Bay! On a final note, if you plan to go see it, do when the Sun rises earliest towards the eastern sky, or when the Moon is at it's lowest across the horizon. Saw it at 31 mins. past midnight and the line was DUMB long! Got out and had to go straight to work...THAT's how long the movie is too! Minority readers, "ROLL OUT!" This gets 2 1/2 out 4 M's!

Press PLAY to add our own soundtrack.
