"It's A LEAP Year! New Year's Eve Is TONIGHT!"- Some Last Minute Goodies For You Kids
Man this year is flying by FAST! It seems like just yesterday that we were 700 deep in Brooklyn toasting the New Year coming in. And now look at it, it's New Year's Eve ALL OVER AGAIN! But wait...you say it's on July? Well then tell that to the 600 folks that RSVP'd for tonight's "CREW LOVE" 4th Anniversary event. I have a feeling that the fireworks for the fourth will be INDOORS this year! LOL! No seriously, TONIGHT is looking type MAJOR as far as the expected turnout for our 4th year celebrating the social life crew called the Block Association aka the Block Boys. And if you've been partying with us since the start YOU KNOW how important tonight will be for us. It' like having a second b'day every year. Anyways indie women's clothing brand RUE 107 will be joining us toasting their anny as well! Their 2nd to be exact. So you KNOW I had to do a remix to the trailer video right! Bad Boy style! Take that take that take that! So there's that below AND today is NEW MUSIC TUESDAY so we're finally releasing the highly anticipated original soundtrack that downloadable HERE! You straight now? Cool! Good, we'll see you guys later TONIGHT!

"Old School, New School Need To Learn" -Getting My Shyne On!

Now even though I haven't done a posting in this category in a minute, doesn't mean I haven't been posting up samples from time to time. But being that this guy (former Bad Boy artist turned gun man) Shyne) has been in the news a lot lately, I thought what BETTER time to post this than now! Will he rap again? Is he staying in the states? I don't remember, what song he made again? Why didn't Diddy come visit more? Are ALL questions being floated around the "water cooler!" Me? I'm about the music. I say eff the controversy, I just wanna hear GOOD music from the kid. Well in the meantime here's a "refresher" on the hit he had AND the song he lifted it from made by club icon/nightclubber Grace Jones. Get reacquainted all over again with both.Friday, July 31, 2009

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.161)
Okay "Bad2Def" turned out to be just that! This was the ever last "Rock the Block BK" presentation event to gear folks up for the BIG day (Sat. Aug. 15th)! A sort of "Come meet Dumbo" soiree' to familiarize folks with the spaces and area the "Rock the Block BK" movement will be held at this year. Dj Goldfinger went IN on the Bad Boy & Def Jam catalogue, giving folks musical goose bumps each song that came on. It sounded like a damn roller coaster ride up in ReBar last Friday night! Lol! With the much bigger turn out we relocated the party to the large room in ReBar to accommodate everyone in attendance adequately. Plus the kitchen stayed open till 2am, so folks made good use of that luxury. The staff even loved us so much we were asked to return before the party even ended! So join usn when we do Wed. Sept. 9th (9-9-09) for "the Whole 9 yards" dinner & dance B'day for fellow Virgo, Frei of the Ahficionados/
GUTS movement. Be a shame if you missed that one too. FYI* Tix for "Rock the Block BK" are moving FAST especially now that VIP pass are $20 a pop! RocktheblockBK.com

"Representin' BK To the Fullest!" -B.I.G & Jay-Z Reunite! Sat. Aug.15th "Rock the Block BK"

You've probably heard by now that a good amount of key "Brooklynistas" are planning a HUGE arts festival down in the DUMBO called "Rock the Block BK" right? Well here's the kicker, at the end of the concert (yeah, they'll be a live show, I'll explain who later) we'll be starting off the after party with one of the BIGGEST (pun intended) musical tributes Brooklyn's even seen! "B.I.G. Pimpin' " salutes the two best that ever did it. Jay & Big not only made Brooklyn iconic world wide, they defined what BK swagger was. Period dot! Enough talk, here's the quote for quote of exactly what I mean!
Tale of the tape (deck):
Jay-Z aka S Dot Carter, Jigga Man, Iceberg Slim, Young Vito, J-Hova, the God MC, J to the A, William H. Holla, born Shawn Carter, "Greatest Rapper Alive."
the Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie, aka Biggle Smalls, B.I.G., Frank White, Francis M.H. White, the King of NY, Big Poppa, born Christopher Wallace, "Greatest Rapper of All Time."
B.I.G. said..
"...And I'am, Crooklyn's finest, you rewind this, Bad Boy's behind us!"
"Live from Bedford-Stuyvesant, it's the livest one, representin' BK to the fullest.."
"Your daughter's tied up in a Brooklyn basement..."
"...You got it nigga flaunt it, that Brooklyn bullshit, we on it!"
"Tims for my hooligans in Brooklyn..."
"Where Brooklyn at? Where Brooklyn at? Where Brooklyn at? Where Brooklyn at?"
"...Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way!"
" My Bed-Stuy flow's malicious, delicious. F**k three wishes, I made my road to riches..."
"This goes out to by Brooklyn crew, put ya hands up in the air if ya feel me"
" Niggaz can't harm me, I keep the army. Is Brooklyn in the house? Without a doubt.
"But if a man test my Stuy, I promise he won't like my reply"
"Like a momma you birth me, Brooklyn you nursed me. School me with that hard knocks better than Berkley"
"Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, C.I. the best in the game since Daddy Kane & B.I."
"Cough up a lung, where I'm from, Marcy son! Ain't nothin' nice..."
"For my Brownsville neighbors, how about some hardcore?"
"I'm ballin' for real, you keep pump fakin' it. Manhattan keeps on faking it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it! Yeah!"
"You crazy? You think your little bit of rhymes can play me? I from Marcy, I'm varsity chump, you JV."
"Get ya chain tookin', I might do it myself , I'm so Brooklyn!"
"Went solo on that ass, but it's still the same. Brooklyn be the place where I serve them thangs."
"I'm from Marcy son, just thought I'd remind yall."
WOW! They made Brooklyn more than just a borough, It's a state of mind now! Come August 15th EVERYBODY attending "Rock the Block BK" will be from Brooklyn for a day.
Join us please, as we most proudly present to you...

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.152)
Whoa, the feedback and RSVP's for this event ("Rock Wit It" -30 yrs. deep of Hip-Hop and R&B) was huge, but I never imagined it would be ANYTHING like this! We started off early with a model and designer search along with Butch Diva (we STILL need more models btw) around 7ish, which was already a party atmosphere. Chivas Regal stopped thru and hit the bar off with FREE product that everybody got lit off of (the "August 15th" drink did that). By 9pm, we threw the movie "Juice" on in the DVD, and the Ahficionados took over with their special brand of mood music. Then by 12am when DJ Goldfinger took over, folks were GONE! He went through hit after hit like he was Jay-Z freestylin' one take! Butch Diva's entourage changed into their party gear and it was "spandex & chaos" all night! I swore this is the MOST fun I've had at one of my events in a min. Song after song, after song, after song, he never let up to give cats a break from dancing. It was just that awesome! Well anyways, on to the next thing (back at ReBar) which will be Rock the Block BK presents "Bad To Def"-a Bad Boy v.s. Def Jam musical tribute party w/ DJ Goldfinger and the Ahficionados returning to do the musical honors JULY 24th folks (write that down somewhere now!). Thanks for the continued support and hopefully we'll see you at "BK All Day" -the huge July 4th BBQ (4pm-4am) too. I'll post details soon.
