Dope Swan invites you to "Brooklyn Influence" commemorating the one year anniversary of "A Great Day in Brooklyn" and "Another Great Day in Brooklyn", organized in June 2008 by Brooklyn-based community arts organization DOPE SWAN. Featuring the work of renowned documentary Jamel Shabazz and visual storyteller Lafotographeuse, the exhibition doubles as a visual blueprint and photographic memoir of Brooklyn residents who eloquently merge the worlds of art, activism and entrepreneurship.

Tonight Wax Poetics, Raw Fusion, Great Weekend, Fusicology, and Halcyon, present "I Love Vinyl", an all-vinyl oasis at the Gallery Bar at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC, featuring a dream team of "vinyl romantics".

Sharing deck duties are DJs Amir (of Kon & Amir),
prolific beatsmith Ge-Ology (Female Fun), Anthony Khan The Twilite Tone (Great Weekend), both a key player in the seminal 90's Chicago house scene, and long-time producer and dj for Common; New York veterans OP! and Scribe (Raw Fusion NYC), and Jon Oliver (The Main Ingredient/EVR), the baby of the bunch. With these heavy hitters butting music heads, expect sonic sparks, and stellar unannounced guests. the sounds will be mind-wide, foot-friendly, and snap crackle popping. no laptops allowed.

I apologize, to all those who invited me out personally to attend their functions. Please understand that once you're on board the Sallomazing! (Dope Swan, Rebellion In the Hood) "Entourage bus", it's hard to jump off! This particular night, we were all hanging out in celebration of her birthday, so we had to make the rounds to THREE spots in one night. What's key to pulling that off? Start EARLY! First Retreat/Rebar in Dumbo as the appetizer. The Red Bull space/Wax Poetics party w/ the Budos Band (dope!) for the main course. Then on to Libations for the Uncle Ralph McDaniels video djaying party as the dessert. Enough talking, I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the tale.
