"Buried Alive, With Snow Way Out!" -the White Out In NYC

Help me understand WHY for three FREAKIN' days has there been a bus and countless other cars stranded on my block! This is NOT the first or the LAST snow storm NYC has seen, so WHY is the clean up the worst? I admit it was exciting to see it for a day or so, (it felt like I was living on a movie set) but ummm enough is enough Bloomie! I had to stop and take a pick of this s#@t here to convey the view from my window. In the great words of Kanye "I'm so applauded!"

"Soaking In Some UV Rays For NYE!" -Pics Of UltraViolet, "Casino Royale's" NEW Venue

Before you go and waste GOOD money somewhere else that you just winded up at for New Years but default. I decided to make it my business to hip you to the finer side of Brooklyn's up-and-coming night life. This brand spanking NEW, Two months old venue titled UltraViolet, has been crowned the honorary hosting space to present our 2nd Annual casino themed New Years affair "Casino Royale 002!" Located on the boarder of Park Slope & Gowanus, UV boasts THREE flrs. of top notch sound systems and lighting that would make ANY Manhattan club jealous! This year the Block Association collectively decided that a more intimate and exclusive experience was the way to go for the upcoming turn of the decade and thought UltraViolet was thee PERFECT space to accommodate just that look. Down sizing DOESN'T have to mean down grading! Correct? So to take the guess work out of "Just exactly what DOES UltraViolet look like?" I GOT YOU! You just keep your end of the bargain and cop those tix and come looking like FRESH GOOD MONEY!

"The Swan That Laid The Golden Globe Egg" -Black Swan Review

Have you seen this movie YET? Trust me if you have then you'd be talking about it too! Be it Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, WHATEVA! This is the type of cinema experience that I'm glad to plop down money for and STILL get the DVD! YES, it was just that good. Not to give away too too much, but the story/plot follows "Nina" (Natalie Portman) as a "dancer in waiting" in a ballet troupe that's eager for "the come up" in the wake of the shows aging star exiting the production early, due to a forced retirement. Portman does some of her best acting yet (since her debut turn in "the Professional") as a insecure, sheltered young dancer living with an overbearing mother. That turns to purging and paranoia to cope with the pressures of maintaining the image of a twin role in a production of "Swan Lake". Fighting off sexual advances from the head stage director, her understudy, and accusations of sleeping to get the job from the former lead and EVERYONE else, her mind spirals down a rabbit hole of delusions and the film's director takes us (the audience) right down with her! Brilliantly! Usually I'm always sitting in the dark waiting to see if the ending I predicted was right. Not THIS time, with this film, I was LITERALLY in the dark! I wasn't sure WHAT was going on! And I mean that in a GOOD way! Every 5 minutes I was like WTH, WTF, SMH, and even LOL. seriously other than "Let Me In" this was my surprise hit of the year film wise for me. Well written, well acted, and well directed. Best sexual thriller since ummm...well since "Eyes Wide Shut" I will say. "Swan" has feathers but it's NO light-weight! Fly to see this film! I give it 5 out of 5 M's! Here are some DOPE poster variations that I came across below:

"3...2...1 Yo Self!" -Let's Have The Time Of Our Lives...Right NOW!

Okay lets' do a re-cap folks! Last Dec. we took New Year's Eve celebrations up a notch and brought class back to Brooklyn with the FIRST EVER casino themed party in Dumbo "Casino Royale"! Blackjack table, full tuxs and all! Then in Feb. we followed it up with the BIGGEST Superbowl party that I've ever seen in my lifetime called "My Uber Superbowl Party". April it was "the Fashion 500" party Easter weekend AND our first photo shoot penthouse party pushing for Black Fashion Month. In the month of May we present the hugely successful concert / bowling party "Rock & Bowl" @ Brooklyn Bowl. July we started a heatwave with our Anniversary weekend parties with one HISTORIC gathering at the Brooklyn Museum's/ Target's first Saturday event, and had the LARGEST recorded turnout EVER in the history of the museum's events! 4.000+ folks! August we tried and succeeded with something new on Sunday's called "Any Given Sunday" brunch w/ drinks, food, and a movie. And it became a MOVIE! LOL. Ending on Labor Day weekend w/ a big bashment. Mid-Sept. all the Block Association Virgo's conjoined together for one "gianormous" birthday celebration on Fashion Night Out at Room Service Friday's. Boom! Then we hit'em with the second annual "Monsters Ball" Halloween party collabo w/ the Brooklyn Circus crew, that had a block long line, and reached capacity at 12:00!!! Nov. we held the 2nd "Flashing Lights" event with SheisNYC.com's anniversary. SHEESH! We've had a really HUGE year! And I said all of that to say THANK YOU! Thank you for making us the Block Association the No.#1 premiere event planning group to come out of Brooklyn in a while. We love that you support the movement back to classier style events for the borough we were raised in. It feels good to do it for BK. However we need your attendance for just TWO more events to end the year off RIGHT! And they are:

"Thank You, & Good Night!" -the Minority Report's Holiday Office Party

any thanks, to all those that have contributed to the ever growing popularity of the Minority Report's success! This year has been PHENOMENAL! And you had a helping hand with that. We've clocked over 100,000+ hits this year (up 20,000 more than last year), so what better reason to celebrate than NOW? We all know that being a socialite in a social circle of creative people (especially in NYC) at times you don't have time to actually be social! So before the holiday "madness" sets in we're taking a moment to wind down and get together for drinks, a game of pool, and GREAT music, and MORE drinks (LOL). Everything from Fela to Drake, and all the faces you SHOULD know will play host!

Thurs. Dec.23rd -Christmas Eve eve

"Thunder, Thunder, Thunder God!"-Thor Movie Poster & Trailer

I'm truly AMAZED that in my lifetime would I ever think to see an official "Thor" movie being made let alone an Avengers movie! But low and behold fans of Asgard, the young God is finally getting his just due come next Spring (May I believe, if the studio doesn't push it back again). I've been a reader of Thor since a youth, when faved artist/writer Walt Simonson took over the book and help bring back the Norse native to popularity back in the 80's (1983). But enough geek reminiscing, here's something for our future geeks to look forward to.

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt. 236)

Starting on Wed. night I basically went out EVERY night over the holiday weekend! I set it off at the swankiest NEW bar in Brooklyn, the Emerson. then headed up w/Gary to the Empire Room to check DJ Trauma play for a hot sec. Thursday (Thanksgiving night), I hit up Southpaw for the BKC's "Le Cirque" event w/ Talib Kweli djaying and DJ Trauma (again). Then Black Friday was the bang out event at Room Service w/ Camille McDonald (of America's Next Top Model fame) held her HUGE b'day bashment, hosted by Deon Grant of the NY Giants! DJayed by Goldfinger & DJ Trauma (yet AGAIN)!!! I didn't take as many pics as I would have liked to, only cause it was SO craazy in there EARLY, but there are some below I posted to give you some what of any idea what went down. BTW TONIGHT (Dec.3rd) is "Jay Day"! The Jay-Z musical tribute on the eve of Young Hova's B'day. Go cope the book (Decoded) AND the greatest hits album too! Rsvp: theBlockRsvp@gmail.com

"Flashing Lights"Paparazzi Pics (Pt.235)

Usually after a BIG Thanksgiving meal people tend to hit the restroom to make space for dessert. then you have those that catch the "itis" and watch whatever game is on. Then you have THESE folks that wanna come out and dance up a storm to lose some of the pounds that they just put on. last Thurs. (Thanksgiving night) the huge local San Fran / Brooklyn Circus social event made it debut on the east coast at the CBGB's of Park Slope Southpaw. As pictured below you can ALWAYS expect a fashionable crowd to come out to attend a Circus affair. DJ Trauma (Soundproof Intl') murdered the early warm up set like it was the last live Thanksgiving turkey left. A then special guest Talib Kweli did a DJ set, and let's just say he raps WAY BETTER! WAYYYY better! (LOL) Here's the folks that you may have missed around your dinner table that night picture below!

"Come Follow Me Into The Matrix"
