"Badu To The Bone!" -Ameryrah the Beautiful

Ms. Badu hits the ground running with not only a NEW CD on the way (New Ameryrah Pt.2) but also a top secret, hush hush, concert this Saturday! I always look forward to hearing what she has to offer to the musically playing field when she decides to release new music. Hopes up high, fingers crossed. I can see it now, Eryrah touring with Jay Electronic opening up, Common the second act, then Andre 3000 gets co-head line billing and her closing the show out right?!?

"Lost & Found" -Forgotten Flicks Never Posted

Not only did I forget this WHOLE night, I forgot to even post the pics up from this Henny event some months ago at Terminal 5 hosted by Common & the Roots. This was a weird night for me, solely based on the fact that one, I headed up to the event for dolo, got inside within 5 mins. of arriving despite the massive "around the corner, down the block" line outside. AND got V.I.P. arm band access without even tryin'...SWEET! I'm not sure of the reason behind Hennessy Black throwing the function, but the turnout was NUTTY! Good thing the venue was spacious, cause damn near ALL of NYC was up in that bitch! For a while when I first got there, I stood along the entrance hallway hoping to spot a familiar face before it got too too thick in there. A young lady standing close to me struck up conversation bugging on how OVER dressed some folks came out that night. "ARE YOU SERIOUS!?! Are they handing out some award I don't know about? This IS general population , standing room only, you DO know that right? Hey go head, do you lil' mama!" They MUST not get out that often, was the agreed upon consensus between us. (SMH) Now here's where things get fuzzy. Remember this is a HENNY party and drinks were FREE okay. So need I have to explain how "Swizzle stick" twisted I got. Drunk one drink, then that drink got lonely and wanted company so I HAD to drink another, then before you know it...GONE till November! Loss my mind, my sunglasses, and a wee bit of dignity all in one swoop. Enjoy what I missed sober.

"I'll Be Wack" & "The Devil Made Me Do It" -Terminator Salvation + Angels & Demons Movie Reviews

Last week I got the chance to take in TWO movies that was suppose to kick off the Summer blockbuster run, but it's looking like a false start to me with these two I gotta tell you. I'll explain why, starting with Terminator Salvation first. To me the movie never developed the intensity that the first two did by having a central villain in the film. Two heros and not one single "bad ass" in a world FULL of terminators? Give me at least one programmed to find John Conner of present day and kill him right? You sent one to the past damn it! Kill the son of a bitch NOW man! True be told, that other character dude from the past was WAY more interesting to watch on scene (no homo) than ya boy Christian (I like to go off on the on-set help) Bale! Not to spoil things but ummm...Common's in it too, stink up the joint like his last album. It hurt to watch him fail twice in one year. His worst line after hearing that "the Resistance" was going to blow up a Skynet base full of survivors was "HUH?" Brillant writing fellas. Plus through all the chaos, and day to day combat going on, he must've still found time to get a fresh cut and beard shape up from time to time I'm guessing. The writing was on the (poster) wall, it says Bale (Bail). And that's what I should have done... "Bale'd!"

Now on to Angels & Demons, which wasn't that much better. Might you the whole story plot is suppose to happen with a time span on 24hrs. It works for head-butting Keifer but not so much for Tom (Hanks) here. Especially after a last minute flight to Rome, I'd think he'd be jet lagged. Somehow he gets partnered up w/an attractive female AGAIN(?), who's not only a scientist but can read ancient Latin, and like to deface rare, out of print, only one copy left books. Which by the way struck me as odd that NO cameras in that highly guarded, heavily watched area, caught on tape...what? And NO consequences came from that? I'm an atheist when it comes to believing that would happen! And can we talk about the last min. bomb rescue/parachute escape? Explain to me how Ewan only gets effed up on way down, but an explosion that floored the whole Vatican city left the closest person to the blast untouched? A "Big Bang" proportion type at that! A big BOO on that one! I say he deserves to run the Vatican after surviving the self branding and the near fatal sky dive, it shows that he's committed to his causes no matter how zany. The only sin committed here, was paying to see this before it comes out on DVD.

"You're A Star, You Just Don't Know It Yet!" - Sunday Night Live/ the Cool Kids, Mickey Factz

Okay, somebody tell me. Is there some sorta "Rap Renaissance" going on in the Chi that I didn't hear about? Lupe, Common, Kanye, John Legend, all are pulling to get Chicago reinstated in "the Windy City...and spits too!" Now here comes these new "kids" on the Chicago block, the Cool Kids. Never heard of 'em? Then maybe you're just not as cool as you thought you were, huh? Well FYI, they cats tore it up at the American Museum of Natural History and made way for a Kanye appearance, that left the crowd speechless. I say all this cause, Sunday night at S.O.B.'s, you can see first hand what all the hub bub is all about.

the Cool Kids w/ Mickey Factz

"Common Interests"- The Rapper Goes Green

In case you stepped away from the computer for two mins. It's been annouced that not only is there a JLA (Justice League of America, for you non-comic geeks) movie been made but the artist commonly known as Common, has been cast as a leading character named John Stewart
(sorry "comies" I meant)
the Green Lantern
. Common seems to be trying to make his face just that...
common on the big screen. Appearing in last year's "Smoking Ace's", "American Gangster" and this year's "Wanted". Another film based on comic folklore alongside Ms. Pitt herself, Angelina Joile. I wonder where he finds the time to still spit lyrics. Anyways when he's old and grey I wonder will they cast a rapper that can act to play him, or an actor that raps? Puzzling.

(FYI* Common's pop played for the defunct ABA Basketball league back in the day, so maybe he should've been cast for "Semi-Pro" instead of Andre' 3000)

"For Use of Common Knowledge" -Common Lights Up A Room... 2008 Watts

Being necessary in Hip Hop is a hard thing to maintain, yet Common manages to make this task look effortless. Recently at the Smirnoff shebang Common perform a NEW take on his hit
"the Light"
. So just like any good blogger would do, the Minority Report tracked it down so that you too can enjoy a listen. Produced by Just Blaze, with a hook sung by former Floetry member, you will start hearing his timeless lyrics in a different "light."

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.9)

Try as you may,but I seriously doubt that you will EVER attend a launch party event (Smirnoff Mixer Series) of this caliber!
It was just that hot! "Fire from the stove" is the NEW saying.
Q-tip killed it first with his Tribe classics, followed by Common
doing every hit that he's known for. Then the "Blast Master" destroyed the stage! Melle Mel, Grand Master Flash,
Positive K
and others made history joining him on stage!
I'm still amped as you can tell from all the exclamation points!
Peep the exclusive pics.
