Traditionally held in, Brooklyn the Block Association's 4th Annual Halloween event is planting it's feet in new waters to accommodate our ever growing clientele that comes out from ALL the boroughs of NYC. BTW we even have folks from both D.C. AND Philly (thanks to Micheal Morrow/Philadelphia Status) coming to join in on the holiday fun! Yep THREE cities AT THE SAME DAMN TIME...one GREAT party! It was the summer of 2012, Tom Cruise was on his 3rd divorce but marriage was at an all time low. You could find plenty superheroes on the big screen (the Avengers, Batman, Spiderman and such). But none in real life. Frank Ocean came out, about his sexuality however John Travolta keep his in. Neon colors were in, but the color black never faded out. It was strange times indeed. But what's cool is the Block Association will be turning back time too with 80's Pop, Hip-Hop, and R&B for their dance party behind the Brooklyn Museum (weather permitting) hosted by Society HAE. FREE! THEN right after that there'll be an after party 10pm-4am @ Jelani Lougne (on Waverly near Fulton St.) $5 ladies $10 guys ALL night long!
Now don't drink TOO much, cause you'll need to rest your liver for the Block Assoc-
iation's "BK All Day!" block party down in Dumbo! Yep! From 3pm-8pm the Block will be taking over Dumbo near the water front right in front of the No.1 Front St. venue! Speaking of Dumbo, This Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival has gotten legs of it's own too taking place again this year. This time they've stretched it out for a WHOLE week! Starting Mon. July 5th (till July 10th), this years festival's new week long format features a showcase of independent local, national and international talent, panels, film, theater, and of course Main Day performances, and the Family Day Block Party. De La Soul will close the show so...FIRE!

Now let's jump ahead to Sunday (date TBA) and prepare to be WOWED by the massive turn out for MIH's Annual "Heatwave BBQ" (10.0) once again in Prospect Park! Free food and drinks while supplies last. And plenty of good times to be had! This is ALWAYS a major staple of the Summer for the last TEN (!) yrs. strong and this one is building up to be the BIGGEST one yet to celebrate a decade!

"Oh, Me So Coney!" -Life's A Beach! Livin' In Brooklyn, C.I. Style!

Now WHAT better place can you test out a new camera and see how vividly colors can come out then in Coney Island I ask you? If you said Vegas, then yeah you got me on that one. But let's keep it local...namely Brooklyn okay? Last Saturday morning I got up remembering that Coney Island has that yearly Mermaid Parade that comes around this time of year. The forecasters were all saying that it was to be "a gorgeous day", so I mustered up the strength to get my ass up outta bed, to travel to the ends of the Earth (well the end of Brooklyn) to see what my (Canon) G10 could bring back under the pressure (I.E.; moving targets, crowded streets, and extremely bright sunlight). How was the parade? Just take the Halloween parade, mix that with the Gay Pride Parade, a lil' Mardi Gras, then an add a dash of Popeye, Sponge Bob, Aqua Man, and the Gorton's fisher man flavor up in there. And you've pretty much got the gist of how the parade is going to be. Some folks didn't get the memo that it's suppose to be a nautical themed event but the point is to enjoy yourself either way so...
