"Some Assembly Required" -The Avengers Movie Review
Have you ever had a crush on someone and then years later out the blue not only do they start coming around you they finally have a night of passionate sex with you? No? Well that's happened for me and that's the best way I can describe finally seeing the Avengers become a reality on screen! For years Marvel films has been dick teasing us with solo released films from each hero featured in the ensemble starting with TWO Hulks, two Iron Man flicks, then lately Captain America & Thor last year. Iron Man (thanks to Robert Downey Jr.) being the better of this bunch, Hulk being the worst. Bad ex's but not wifey, like the idea the Avengers was hoping to be. Now I've been an avid comic book collector since the early 80's and the thought of the team ever becoming a movie was as far fetched as the story lines in the books themselves LOL! And if so, NOT a very good one! I actually was nervous FOR Marvel knowing how bad this coulda ended up. EVERYONE was wrong! This movie was everything it was suppose to be! It was like not only finally getting to bed your life long crush but she invites her freaky girlfriends to join in! And then they cook breakfast the morning after! YEAH THAT GOOD! To be honest I'm more of a Batman type of guy. Not the books, more so the Nolan films. It's a bit more "reality" based for my liking. But you couldn't go that route with this one, TOO many over the top powered super beings to play it that way. So the beat 'em up explosive popcorn movie it HAS to be. the Avengers biggest battle however was to not give EVERYTHING away via the leaked flicks & 20 plus trailers! I was secretly hoping that the alien threat was those damn blue dudes from Avatar! But it's looking like the Avengers will be beating them up at the box office instead! LOL! Oh but the way, not to spoil things for you but not only does Hulk SMASH(!) in the film, the director Joss Whedon does too! 4 out of 5 M's for this one

"Thinking About Going Back To My X" -Marvel Gets Us A First Class Trailer
Lately it seems like Hollywood is trying hard to "MARVEL" us with quite a few big screen adaptations of our favorite iconic superhero figures. In the latest crop to pop up, Thor, Captain America, the formation of the original X-Men, and a revision of your friendly neighborhood Spiderman will be getting the silver screen treatment THIS YEAR alone! Out of all those mentioned I think the X-men film is what I'm looking forward (for lack of a better word) to seeing the most, but that's not saying too much. I rarely am impressed by most of these trending comic based movies (other than the Dark Knight) so my level of expectation is not so high when viewing the end result. I hate walking a theater with popcorn in one hand, fingers crossed on the other. LOL. Anyways here's some trailers you may or may not have seen already that I'm sure you see at least one. Also I posted some poster images relating to these films as well.

"Thunder, Thunder, Thunder God!"-Thor Movie Poster & Trailer
I'm truly AMAZED that in my lifetime would I ever think to see an official "Thor" movie being made let alone an Avengers movie! But low and behold fans of Asgard, the young God is finally getting his just due come next Spring (May I believe, if the studio doesn't push it back again). I've been a reader of Thor since a youth, when faved artist/writer Walt Simonson took over the book and help bring back the Norse native to popularity back in the 80's (1983). But enough geek reminiscing, here's something for our future geeks to look forward to.

"Hungry For A Hero" -A New Season Of Heroes Is Coming...Be Patience Folks!
After getting hooked on to this show from the first season, I've barely miss an episode. It's gotten so bad that if I do miss one, I'll watch it on-line just to catch up. I'll even go as far as to admit to "geeking out" and reading each characters bios (on Wikipedia) like I was studying for some damn test! It's like some grown man comic book for real. Hahahaha. Anyways, joy is in my heart that the Fall is returning along w/ a new season of one of the very few TV shows I even watch religiously. Peep the extended trailer I found.

"If The Spirit Moves You..." -New Frank Miller Thiller
I LOVE Frank Miller (No homo)! He is to me one of the most dynamic voices in comic book history, or even fiction for that matter. His style is uniquely his own, however now that's he's begun his foray into film making (300 & Sin City), I'm not so sure about the "literal" image translation to the big screen. It begins to look too stylized for my taste, and may detract from the actual story being told. But that's just my opinion, here's a taste of what I mean. Here's the trailer for the Spirit. (*FYI he's was even the inspiration for Kiser's latest designs -see site)

"Common Interests"- The Rapper Goes Green
In case you stepped away from the computer for two mins. It's been annouced that not only is there a JLA (Justice League of America, for you non-comic geeks) movie been made but the artist commonly known as Common, has been cast as a leading character named John Stewart(sorry "comies" I meant)
the Green Lantern. Common seems to be trying to make his face just that...
common on the big screen. Appearing in last year's "Smoking Ace's", "American Gangster" and this year's "Wanted". Another film based on comic folklore alongside Ms. Pitt herself, Angelina Joile. I wonder where he finds the time to still spit lyrics. Anyways when he's old and grey I wonder will they cast a rapper that can act to play him, or an actor that raps? Puzzling.
(FYI* Common's pop played for the defunct ABA Basketball league back in the day, so maybe he should've been cast for "Semi-Pro" instead of Andre' 3000)

"Heroes Aren't Just Sandwiches" - The Dark Knight & Iron Man Previews
Every once in a while I like to "Get my Geek on" and read info about upcoming comic based movies that I have some childhood connection to. At one time I was an avid comic book collector, and to this day I still have'em stacked away neatly in some boxes...in plastic. But no 40 year old virgin am I. I am legend (just ask somebody). Here's some tidbits I got wind off about Marvel and D.C.'s dueling Superhero flicks hitting the theaters (and yo pockets) soon. The first image is a scene from a straight to Blu-Ray DVD (July 8th) Japanimation / Anime film (Batman:Gotham Knight) bridging the gap between the 1st Bale Batman (Batman Begins) and the newest one (Dark Knight) coming out. The second is the latest trailer promoting the highly buzzed Iron Man movie. Cue the lights, popcorn and action!
