"We Got The POWER!" NYC's Historic Brunch Is Just Days Away! RSVP NOW!

Since the Summer ended the Block Association has been scheming on a way to not only create a legendary event that would become a NEW tradition to attend in NYC, but also something that would cap the WHOLE year off that had a "WOW!" effect. And being that our niche has become daytime parties with over 600 in attendance, we collectively thought "How (if possible) could we make it even BIGGER?" And we figured out just HOW! Put the BEST people we've worked with and invited out to our events all in ONE  (sexy ass large) room! The owners of SLATE (the venue of choice we're hosting it at) came out to our brunch event at TOP CHEF Kitchen and were amazed at the look of the crowd and wanted to get in on the action. Which is the PERFECT venue (size, location, etc.) we needed to pull this one in a lifetime year ending event off! As you can tell from all the capitalized words & exclamation points I'm using that I'm tremendously excited about this one. WHY you ask? Simple...It's NEVER been done...period! Not only will it be the FIRST brunch party ever hosted at the venue, it will be the FIRST time the Block, Blacklight Ent, Showcase AND Empire Entity has ever done a party there! Let alone the FIRST time we've all worked together on ONE single event! All that is reason alone that this will be "the one" to f**k with as you get readyfor our FIRST NYE event in the city ("OCEAN'S 13") the very next night! There's NO COVER so there's NO worry about cutting into your New Year's Eve bottle budget. LOL.  Anyways, below are "finish line, last push promo, bonus edition" fliers to get the buzz buzzing!

"Another Movie About Precious" -The Hobbit Trailer FINALLY Hits The Net!

I just recently reread this book just to familiarize myself with the story after years of last seeing it in cartoon form on TV YEARS ago! Remember cartoons? Or even watching something ON T.V. for that matter. Ol' geek sh*t right? Anyways, Peter Jackson is right back to where he needs to be...FAT! And back to directing J.R.R Tolkiens fabled books about Middle-Earth adventures.

"Are We There Yet?" - "Franklin & Dean's" Second NYE Trailer

Anxious for New Years Eve to come? Well us too! Never comfortable relying on simple fliers and mass e-mails about events and what not we decided to capture the anxiety folks are getting for the Block Association's huge black tie event happening for NYE in Brooklyn this year! Funny enough, our lead character Keith "Major" was the perfect choice to play this role cause for one, he DOES snore THAT LOUD! And secondly he had his NYE outfit for this year thought out and planned from LAST year! Yeah he's just THAT serious when it comes to his wears. But I digress, I starting to feel "the rush" too! Hold up a sec...did you cop your tix yet? DUH! Get on that FIRST, THEN start hunting for your outfit. S/O to Vonn J. for being her lovely self and commanding the female lead. First bottle (of water) on NYE is on us! We GOT you...lol!  For advance tix click Franklin&Dean.eventbrite.com/

"Riddle Me This. What's Black, Red White & Blue,Yellow & Red, And Green ALL Over?"- Yep! The Avengers Full Trailer Is Here

The LONG awaited eye porn for comic book lovers is FINALLY on-line! Ironically it's released "just in the nick of time" for this upcoming Comic Con convention this Sat. & Sunday. The trailer is a lil' "Lite FM" for me. But I'm SURE this is just one of maybe two to three more trailer that will be released before it hits theaters next May. Note to the chef; Needs more Hulk!

"Push It Along!"- Tribe Trailer & Poster Art

Within the last two months the Ft. Greene Fest has featured 2/3's (Q-Tip & Ali Shaheed) of one of THEE most influential groups to ever come out of Hip-Hop...A Tribe Called Quest! But very few ever knew about the internal feuding that lead to the demise of the group. This is where this film comes in. Actor now director Micheal Rapport explores/exploits the "who, what, when & how" this beloved group took a downward spiral in their relationship with each other. Hopefully this will have a happy ending...in REAL life though.

"More Punch Please!" -Another Hot Trailer From Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch"

As if you weren't HYPED already Zack Synder (of 300 fame) releases yet another trailer of wall to wall eye-candy for his third directorial film "Sucker Punch!" With the disappointment of "Watchmen" and the pressure of directing the next Superman reboot, you can understand why folks are hoping this one delivers the knockout "Punch" that fans, and Warner Bro. studio executives are preying for.

"Thinking About Going Back To My X" -Marvel Gets Us A First Class Trailer

Lately it seems like Hollywood is trying hard to "MARVEL" us with quite a few big screen adaptations of our favorite iconic superhero figures. In the latest crop to pop up, Thor, Captain America, the formation of the original X-Men, and a revision of your friendly neighborhood Spiderman will be getting the silver screen treatment THIS YEAR alone! Out of all those mentioned I think the X-men film is what I'm looking forward (for lack of a better word) to seeing the most, but that's not saying too much. I rarely am impressed by most of these trending comic based movies (other than the Dark Knight) so my level of expectation is not so high when viewing the end result. I hate walking a theater with popcorn in one hand, fingers crossed on the other. LOL. Anyways here's some trailers you may or may not have seen already that I'm sure you see at least one. Also I posted some poster images relating to these films as well.

"Thunder, Thunder, Thunder God!"-Thor Movie Poster & Trailer

I'm truly AMAZED that in my lifetime would I ever think to see an official "Thor" movie being made let alone an Avengers movie! But low and behold fans of Asgard, the young God is finally getting his just due come next Spring (May I believe, if the studio doesn't push it back again). I've been a reader of Thor since a youth, when faved artist/writer Walt Simonson took over the book and help bring back the Norse native to popularity back in the 80's (1983). But enough geek reminiscing, here's something for our future geeks to look forward to.

"Man Of Steel?" Nah I'm More Of An Iron Dude!" -New Iron Man 2 Trailer

I must admit, I wasn't REALLY excited to hear the news that they were making an Iron Man movie, simply because I felt it was gonna flop and tarnish my childhood memories of a favorite Avenger of mine. Well 2 years later, let's just say I'm looking forward to the sequel! Iron Man 2 is but months away and I'm in line ALREADY! This 2nd trailer doesn't help either to quell my anticipation. Are YOU just as excited too? *BTW I'm freakin' SHOCKED that this isn't in 3-D like EVERYTHING else (even though I'd STILL see it) LOL!

"Action Figure$" -Washinton & Law Wanna Piece Of The Action

I doesn't take a movie insider whiz to know that big action flicks are where the molah's at. Just look at the success of Avatar, or even Will Smith. Folks are not lining up just to see his acting prowess. For $12 a tix (sometimes more) folks wanna SEE what they paid for on screen. Every red cent. Especially if you're on a date and you're tying to score, a good movie will make things go even smoother right? Well anyways, here's two more actors that are throwing their hats into the action ring for the first time. Their new motto "M.O.B.B." money over being broke. LOL!

"Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!" -Chris Rock Goes To The Root Of Black America's Hair.

The always politically incorrect comedian Chris Rock (you remember him? From SNL, New Jack City's "Pookie" and he DID have his own show at one time? Yeah him.) has a new gotten his hands tangled up in the on going African-American debate over the quality of hair ie "good hair." I've been hearing the buzz going about how funny and informative this movie's message is. Will it change anything? I doubt it, but who really knows? Fact is that based on personal self image and social acceptance, women (yes some men too) have taken issue over their "wig piece." Me personal, I'm a naturalist. I'd rather it be short and stylish, than long and had a previous owner. But that's just me, I think I'm allergic to weave to be honest. That and cat hair (which is the same thing FYI) always agitates my eyes something awful man! Hopeful the film will enlighten a few and wake black Americans up out of the "weave matrix." Comb over the trailer and tell me your thoughts on this one.

"Fat, Black And Ugly As Ever, However..." -Precious Trailer

Another movie that's getting high praise and has some powerhouse backers (Oprah & Tyler Perry) is the silver screen version of the Sapphire penned book "Push" now titled "Precious." The story's centered around this young teen (who SHOULD have been cast lead in the movie "Notorious" instead of Gravy) that's dealing with the obstacles of poverty, illiteracy, a verbally abusive mother, weight, and the fact that her two children fathered by her own father! Thought you had problems huh? You'll have to either read the book, or better yet support the movie, to find out how it all turns out for her. Set to release on Nov. 6th in limited theaters, here's the preview trailer you can gawk at. for now.

"A Howling Good Time"- It's The Wolfman...Jack! New Trailer Out, Get (Full) Moon 'ed!"

First Dracula got his (classic!), then Frankenstein came next (disappointing), NOW the Wolfman (look hopeful) FINALLY gets his shine! This upcoming movie was so randomly discussed, that folks doubted that it would even get made at all. Well not only is it coming out, just peep (the dope trailer just released) and see who's been cast to play the lead and supporting. Looks like this maybe a winner, but don't quote me on that till the weekend numbers come back opening day. Btw* Doesn't "Frankenstein" and "Wolfman" sound like Jewish last names? Or some wild ass law firm? I can just see the commercial now, "Hurt on the job? Injury on a broken sidewalk? Call Frankenstein & Wolfman to settle your case! They'll scare the pants off the other lawyers to win BIG money for you!" Hahahahahaaaa!

"Oh, Hell Nah!" -Read A Good "Horror" -Scope Lately!

I'll be the first to tell you, I'm not one for going to see horror flicks on the big screen. And NO it's not cause I'm "scarred" (lol) I just feel that they can be a bit, how do you say ummm...cheesy. However, I think this one my change my mind. Spidey Director Sam Raimi returns to the genre that made him famous w/ his latest "Drag me to Hell!" Real life loan Officers will be able to relate to this one, being that get "cursed" to Hell all the time (LOL)!

"Bruno What Time It Is?!? -Borat's Finally BACK...Well, Sort of!

Yo, can I tell you how after hearing about this movie was been made years ago, my ticket to see it was bought (mentally) the next day! Comedian Sasha Baron Cohen who made his "Borat" character a house hold name, could only top that with an even MORE outrageous personality. Ladies and gentleman...meet "Bruno." I'm laugh out loud already!

"The Last Claw!" -Final Wolvie Trailer

I promise this is the VERY last Wolverive trailer posting that I'll be doing on the blog for the year! Why? Mainly because this is the LAST trailer that they're putting out before the movie's released. It's NOT the best one of the bunch, but it has more action than the former three combined! So take a moment to go pop your microwave popcorn, turn down the lights in your cubical and hit play.

"Danger, Watch Yo Self!" -Previews From The Trailer Park

While you're waiting in line (or just getting out of one) to peep the much-hyped Watchmen movie, here's some trailers you may have seen before the featured film. So you may as well get back in line for tix for these too while you're there, and save yourself the time. I'll post a review of Watchmen IF i'm lucky enough to even see it this weekend I promise. Pinky sware! Lol.

"Drugs & Violets" - Peep the (African-) American Violet Trailer

Now I'm not saying that this will be the "Slumdog Millionaire" type feel good film of '09, however it's far to say that this is more around the realm of "Hustle & Flow" more than likely. All I'm saying is keep your eye in this one. It maybe the "dark horse" film of next year's Oscars. Take a look for yourself.

"Harry (Trailer) Nuts"- New Harry Potter Trailer for "Half-Blood Prince"

I'll be the first to confess, I've NEVER read one book of the cult phenom followed Harry Potter books. But I HAVE seen each and every movie that came out based on those books. So I am a fan of the series, though a late one. Well there's something I found for those like me that enjoy the films to get excited about. It's the lastest trailer for the "Half-Blood Prince." Hopefully it'll surpass the former ones and not be "Half-Bad" or "Half-Ass" LOL. Watch it in the dark!

"Going Batty,Why So Serious?" -Final Dark Knight Trailer

There are very few times I have teared up as an adult, this is one of those times. If you're a fan like I am, grab a tissue and click below & watch.

Why So Serious

Did you tear up as I did? No, it's okay to admit it, your manhood is still intact. Lol.

"Come Follow Me Into The Matrix"
