"Oh Me So Coney" -Coney Island's Return!

You can come up off your knees now, cause your favorite vacation spot for Easter weekend has one mo' lust for life left in her. What was thought to be a curtain call last Fall, plans to close the famed Brooklyn amusement park have be put off for at least one more season till decisions are made to determine it fate. My question is, with ALL those fortune tellers that occupy the boardwalk out there, why didn't at least one of them see this coming? I was actually looking forward to the renovations. Lord knows that the last time I visited, I was put off by all the floating diapers, condoms and syringe needles in the water. Let alone the crabs I came home with too...No, it's not those types of crabs man.

"Caught the Red Eye From MIA"- Rick Ross CD Release Party

I missed the Snoop Dogg one last night but here's my second chance to get a dose of Hip Hop in my blood stream for the week. Ross as well as the "Doggfather"
have CD releases out today if you got lost for a moment.
I'm thinking he'll be performing greatest hits (all two of them) "Everyday I'm Hustling" (and the remix) today (lol). Wait hold up...I just received news that the release party has just been canceled! Damn! Maybe Def Jam is reconsidering even putting the ALBUM out too. Oh well I guess I'll get my "fix" from the Amanda Diva show at S.O.B.'s tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience.

"Run DMC(ee-lo)" -New Gnarls & Missy In 3D Video...the Other "M" TV

Two of the most innovative artists out (music and video wise) are putting in early bids for MTV Video Awards with their latest contributions to pop culture. Justin "JT" Timberlake makes a guest appearance as a "too cool for school" '80's dance show host in the Gnarls piece "Run". With will be the first single (which was yanked off of this blog in an earlier posting) off of their sophomore CD "the Odd Couple" (April 8th) Missy's groundbreaking first ever 3D video for her single "Ching-A- Ling" ("Step It Up 2" soundtrack) gets high marks for sheer innovation alone. Her talent is "fire from the stove" for real. Well that was my best Ralph McDaniel's impersonation, enjoy.

"The Other NY Giant(s)" -Cloverfield Review

After all the on-line hype, the countless trailers and the 30 some odd TV spots every other minute,
I honestly was excepting to walk into a disaster... literally. Nothing these days usually lives up to the hype. You know what I'm talking about...
Spiderman 3
, Superman, the last Matrix, shall I go on? But for some reason this felt different, new even.
To call it "Blair Witch meets Godzilla" would not do it justice. There's a little bit more to it, and that something is
humor. Yep, besides the raw emotion of genuine fear, a good laugh of two are thrown in at the characters expense. The "party scenes" that you've seen in the trailer are just used as a plot set up for back story purposes, and for you the viewer, to even care about the folks involved. At one point I got so into the dialogue, I had forgotten that the action hadn't even started yet (lol)! But once it does start, it's good money.
My only true beef with the movie was, there was not a lot
of emotional investment felt from the characters. Real talk,
it would've been WAY more "WTFs" and "Oh S#its! " And one good,
"Dude, you're bugging the eff out right now, & it's not cool!"
If you ask me. All and all, I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it...on DVD. Just kidding. (wink)

"Allow Me to Re-Introduce Myself..."

What is
the
MINORITY REPORT?

Take Pop culture, Performing arts, Fashion forecasting, Social commentary, Political views, and good ol' fashion Gossip, and place them in a mixing bowl. Pour water, and stir. Then add Entertainment news, Tech advances, Movie and Music reviews, with a pinch of sarcasm plus some dry wit for good measure. And toss'em all into a blender. That's pretty much the idea I had when deciding to create this blog. Sort of a one-stop shop for the "minority" of folks that like to keep abreast of the ever-changing world around them but just don't have the time.

WHY THE NAME "the MINORITY REPORT?"
Glad you asked. There are a few answers to that. First one being that I feel that only a "minority" of taste makers set the trends for the majority who follow them. Hopefully if you are reading this,
you're someone that's in this "minority."
Another answer would be that Tom Cruise's movie
(the Minority Report) had an influence to some extent too. His character was a "law enforcing foreseer" that was trying to predict, change, and re-direct destiny. The blog will attempt to do the same, with social info to keep you head of everyone else.
At least by a step or two.
Lastly, I felt the word "minority" for so many years carried a stigma attached to it. Pretty much like a cousin to the "N" word.
I thought it would be cool to turn it on it's head and make people say that they're a "minority" with a sense of pride.

WHAT IS THE BLOG'S GOAL?
Simple, I just wanted a voice for the many interest that I and so many other "minorities" like myself have. The Minority Report will become a forum for mature, cool, trendy folks to exchange
open-minded opinions on topics of the day in a respectful manner...
God willing. Great photos accompanied by personable articles, and a rare download from time to time too.

WHAT IS THE MEANING BEHIND
"Brought to you by the Letter M?"

Oh that...That's just a silly ode to Sesame Street I put with all the postings. Whose who watched will get it.

WHO'S INVOLVED?
Well... it's just me for now. But I am looking for "Minority Reporters" to guest contribute from time to time
just to mix things up a bit. I don't know EVERYTHING
and can't be EVERYWHERE. So a 'lil help couldn't hurt.
Writers, Photogs, + Music and Movie reviewers
are on my short list, where help is needed.
theMreport@gmail.com
is my contact.
