"Top Of The World Baby!" -the Block Association's 2nd Anniversary / July 4th Roof Top BBQ Jump-Off Extravaganza!!!

I'm not here to rub stuff in yo face, but if you DIDN'T make it upstairs to our very first roof top party for or 2nd Anniversary then let me tell you man, YOU BLEW IT!!! It was EVERYTHING folks expected to be but little did folks know it was the party that almost wasn't! True story, gather round kids and listen closely. Ok a while back before July even came round L.A. (Lyshaan Hall), Ngozi (Odita), DJ Trauma, and I were all scouting for spaces in Brooklyn to host our 2nd Annual July 4th anniversary party but was coming up short. To the rescue comes Patty Laurent that put me on to a rooftop space in the city (Rare View) that I attended a while ago and struck up a deal w/ management to book that Monday the 4th. But was told "Urban" (IE "black") parties were kinda frowned upon here, but he was willing to give us a try. However phone call after phone call, meeting after meeting, dude was giving me the "hide and seek, duck duck goose" routine and the clock was ticking! So by divine chance I happen to come across a vague e-mail from an associate suggesting I contact her for a possible lucrative venture. And low and behold a client of hers (she does hair btw) owned a FREAKIN' ROOF TOP! SWEET! You do see where this is going right? Ok so BONG! We meet and agree to collabo on the night to ensure all our people have the most memorable holiday possible and within a few days left till the 4th "Touch the Sky" was ON AND POPPIN'! However due to the fact that we were sharing the space AND the building was occupied with tenants now, the invite was to be PRIVATE! But thanks to the good ol' Internet, Facebook, word of mouth buzz, etc. It got NUTSZILLA! So if I didn't see you, I'm glad you came...BEST ONE YET!!!!

My man Jay...you know Jay when you see him, well he and his Startin' 5 clique are having their 9th (where the hell was I for the other 8) annual BBQ THIS SATURDAY folks! And if you KNOW Jay then you KNOW that you better make customary plans to attend this joint PRONTO! Plenty plenty plenty plenty eye candy for both sexes, and oh they there's suppose to be food and drinks there too (go figure). Well here's the info and I hope to see ya'll there!

"Why Kick Rocks, When You Can Kick Balls!" -BK Fit Brings Back A Childhood Favorite Pastime

Okay WHAT is going ON people?!? First the guys in the Block Association form a seniors B-ball league with the private ambulance on deck. Then this past week I get a text/Facebook invite to meet in the park for a game of KICK-BALL (?) by the (seldom seen, often heard) female member of the Block Association, Ngozi Odita!!! Honestly my first reaction was like "WHAAA, good luck on that one!" But when Saturday morning rolled around and I was still amp'd up from all the Red Bull and Henny from Luke's Place that previous night, I was like "Hey I'm up already, and I'm dying to see WHO else was taking the BK Fit challenge!" So I hopped on my BK "Baby Boy" cruiser and got to the meet-up location about a half hour after the set time and was greeted by not 5, not 10, not 20, but ummm try 3 folks! Ngozi being one of that three (LOL). But as we entered the park, with some (well ALOT) of LOUD coaxing (mainly from yours truly) a few reluctant folks decided to "kick it" with us. You get it? "Kick it" with us...Kick-Ball...(pun intended). Anyways I pitched in and was the pitcher (you got that pun too), and the day turned out pretty FUN for all involved! Especially Ngozi! Oh BTW Ngozi, what the hell was up with all that sliding...to EVERY FREAKIN' base? Even "4th base" (inside joke) WTF?!?

When you do GOOD work GOOD things happen to you! Case in point, I get an email requesting a small intimate Brooklyn venue that would be available to host a listening party, I was like "Sure I got that!" with a sexy decor and even sexier crowd, "Yeah, I got that too!" Then I read it's for Kindred the Family Soul (!) and was like "Oh HELLZ yeah!" So fast forward to this week and I'm happily and proudly announcing that this event is happening THIS FRIDAY at Luke's Place (277 Cumberland St. corner of Lafayette)! For a special edition of "the Class Reunion" our (DJ Frei and I's) ongoing weekly Friday night soiree'. This Friday will be starting a bit earlier to accommodate the groups fans that wanna hear there latest offering to the world. Peep the video below featuring Snoop D-O- double G off the new album...

"Come back Nikki! Come Back..." -NBA Draft Party Held At Nikki Beach

Okay so like maybe say 3 weeks ago I was personally requested to come attend an NBA draft party event over at the Miami themed spot Nikki Beach (Midtown) hosted weekly by the Collective. Which BTW was a venue called VUE at one time that I myself threw a Sunday weekly event there some years ago. But anyways, back to this. So I call up the gang and we ALL decided that's a perfect night to come out to peep the scene. We could support the Block's own DJ Trauma, & at the same time talk about all the "high-end" NBA groupies that come out to get rookie love! Besides, I had to be there to film either way right? The event ran from 9pm-4am so you can just imagine all the footage I shot! So much so, that I was able to make not one but TWO videos from all the B-roll/cutting room flr. stuff (that's director talk). Well after weeks of beating 'round the bush, I FINALLY had a night of "nothingness" where I could find the time to edit the shots. I ALWAYS start with the music selection to get inspiration, and then edit shots around the lyrics...pay close attention!

"No Court For Ol' Men!" -The Block Asssiociation's Basketball CHALLENGE!

Heads up: If you ever drive by that park over by the BQE right off of Atlantic Ave. & Columbia St. on a Sunday, and you happen to peep some mid-to late thirty something guys trying to re-capture their youthful "hoop dreams" Then yeah, THAT would be this crew of misplace African Americans in an all white neighbor taking over that community parks' half court. At first I thought it was to raise awareness of adulthood obesity, but the TRUE story was that cats was talking trash started by Keith "I pick things up & put them down" Major and Lyshaan "I'm 10 mins. away but REALLY am 1 1/2 hrs" Hall after the NBA Finals upset, and challenged each other to a "friendly" game of round ball. Everyone else got dragged into it. So since I never dribbled besides in my sleep, I took pics and made a quick video of the kids doing what we do best, making a fool of each other! LOL

Curated by Micheal Mancini and DJ CEO, this ongoing event is shaping up to be THEE premiere networking location in all of NYC! Here's some footage I shot last Monday to give you a better idea to the scene set by these pioneering gentlemen, so you know that they ain't buls**ting!

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.256)

Okay folks, listen to THIS story! So the other day I get an anonymous text (never saved the name I think) from someone requesting my availability to shoot for a private b'day dinner that a female friend of said texter was having. I replied back "Sounds like an plan, and HOW much $!" not thinking of asking "Ummm, who is this exactly?" So the date comes up, and this time I get a phone call from the same person, calling to confirm if I was still up for taking photos. And even then though the voice sounded familiar, I was too embarrassed to revel that I didn't know WHO the f**k I was speaking too! LOL! But however what peaked my interest (besides the $) was that they mention that the location to show up was a pawn shop in front that had a door in back reveling a high end restaurant behind that door. WHAAAAT!?! Fast forward now, while hanging out w/ my Block (Association) brothers DJ Trauma, Lyshaan Hall, and songtress Malene Younglao, I mentioned that I HAVE to stop by this spot to fulfill a photo obligation and that they could tag along, not know WTF I was walking into. We get there, then I realized...I have NO clue WHO THE HELL am I supposed to be looking for! Texted the anonymous dude back to get a name and then proceeded to flag a waiter down for help finding them. So long story short, what you see below is the who, what, & where, we all end up at.
