"Here Comes The Men In Black (Clap Clap)!" -The Block Unified Dress Code

Agents J & K wore it. Vincent & Jules rocked it.  Reservoir Dogs made it cool. The Crazy 88's killed it! And the agents from the Matrix made you FEAR it. So what will the Block Association do with it the timeless black suit, white shirt, black tie look? Make you RESPECT it! When deciding on a dress code/unified look that best represented us AND silently made a statement visually when worn as a collective, this iconic images came to mind in helping us make our decision. I'm bringing this up, and saying all this to say that THIS FRIDAY (Sept.14th) the WHOLE bloodclot Block Boys team will be dapper looking like the Blues Brothers (minus the hats and white faces of course) for "Virgo's Night Out" Vol.3! Our 3rd annual Block Association collective Virgo birthday event. Being held this year within our NEW 3 week old (every) Friday night party "NEW JACK CITY" (37 W.17th near 6th ave.) aka J'Adore. The look is both gangster and reserved at the same damn time. If you're a Virgo (or not) and you plan to attend and celebrate with us, OR you just wanna play your part in the movement, by all means "...Get ya black suits up!" as Jay-Z once said.  It's gonna look GREAT on film!

"Punch Suckered Me!" -Sucker Punch Review

Let me first start off with a formal apology. If I've influenced you in ANY way based on my many post on the blog about this movie I am TRULY sorry! I myself was planning to go see this on the day of it's release so I could have a fresh review for you come Monday morning. But something told me "Pause...don't get suckered into the hype!" But when good friend (Carlito) put me onto the Optimum On-line FREE Tuesday movie jump-off, I said "Hey, I have NOTHING to lose here! It's FREE right?!?" I was wrong. I lost time, respect and a lil' hope for this director Zack guy. Sure the movie is two hours of visual eye porn, sure Zack has mastered the green screen technology to near perfection. Sure he KNOWS how to market the s**t out of a movie. But when it comes to character development and original storytelling...SMMFH! Damn, I was hoping I was wrong but this movie was basically the Matrix, meets La Cage Aux Folles, meets Lord of the Rings, meets Japanimation, meets Kill Bill (sorry if I've offended anyone connected w/ any of those films). It was like watching a game of Russian roulette knowing a bullet was in EVERY chamber! POW! I would have loved him to just pick ONE genre and kill it! But the story, the acting, and the time consistency was like the popcorn I threw up...all over the place! LOL. Thank God, Allah, Jehovah, Odin, Zeus, and whomever you happen to pray to that Christopher Nolan is writing the Superman story FOR Zack to direct. At the end, I even wanted my money back for money I had spent on the popcorn combo! YES, it was THAT bad folks. If someone suggests to you "Hey why didn't we catch that Sucker Punch movie?" Just turn the other cheek! This gets 2 out of 5 M's

"On To The Ex One!" -Scott Pilgrim v.s. the World Review

Part musical, part comedy, part live action video game, all LOVE (story). Scott Pilgrim packs a PUNCH (pun intended). I'll be the first to admit being a former comic book collector/reader, I've NEVER read or even HEARD of Scott Pilgrim before this movie hit theaters. But once I saw the trailer, heard Edgar Wright was attached to direct (of "Shaun of the Dead", one of my favorite films) and "Super Bad" Michael Cera (reigning king of awkwardness) my ticket was brought! Here's the gist of the movie. Scott who's currently dating a "Asian fetish" school girl, Catholic outfit and all, gets distracted in a dream by a mysterious woman who he finds out REALLY exists and becomes obsessed w/ meeting her. After being warned by EVERYONE to stay clear of her, they start a quick courtship unannounced to his current fling "Knives Chu." By the way he's in a rocking indie band that's destined to STAY indie called "the Sex Bob Omb" (which is really rock artist Beck FYI) After a snowed in night of "spooning" with his new love interest "Ramona Flowers", Scott receives an e-mail from one of her 7 ex's (yes ladies 7 former suitors) challenging him to a duel to defend his honor...which he ignores till her first ex shows up at his band's gig. The rest you MAY have to be high to begin to accept as the story line gets more bizarre as the movie get under way. Not that I'm condoning drug use or anything (lol). But it gets surreal from that point on to say the least. All in all this was one of the most original romance comedies I've EVER seen with all it's movie genre bending and quick witty story telling. Better yet take Tarantino and mix it with the on screen computer graphic film style of "ZombieLand", with a dash of any Kung Fu/Matrix movie and BOOM! You have on Scott Pilgrim film folks. I promise you you won't leave the theater without say to yourself or thinking out loud "WTF!?!" I'm giving it 4 out 5 M's

"I Dreamed A Dream Of Time Gone By" -Inception Review

I'm pretty sure you've seen this movie by now right? Or at LEAST seen the trailer huh? Well if not then let me bring you up to speed. Inception as it's called is the latest movies offering by director of the moment Christopher Nolan of Dark Knight fame. Which after having such a tremendous hit w/ his last movie decides that the thinking man's Sci-Fi is the way to cool his heels down. But a cool OFF it is not! Now with out giving too too much away I gotta say that this movie is about the mental orgasm, cause trust me you will get mind f@#ked! The best way I've been able to explain it to my peers is "Well it's very similar to the Matrix but w/less kung-fu" to sum things up a bit. LOL! But in this film the "matrix" is the mind! Or better yet our "dream conscience" where reality is what you make it. However the overall plot of the film is that Dicaprio leads a team of dream weavers on a mission to plant NOT steal (which that normally are trained to do) an idea into a "mark's" head, and to do that they must break in to his head through his dreams. But it's not as simple as it may sound. Especially being that Leo has an "agent" running around in his brain looking to foil his every move. And speaking of team, the casting is excellent in this one. As is most of Nolan's films. Both the "Juno" chick and the kid from "3rd Rock from the Sun" play their cast roles well. Real stand-out without stealing Leo's thunder. But all in all this was WAAAAY to close to being a mash-up off "Shutter Island & the Matrix" for my liking. But don't read this wrong I still sat and ate my popcorn of the edge of my seat! I'll give it 3 1/2 of 5 M's. BTW bring a pillow, it's long, and YOU too be dreaming by the time it's done. LOL!

"Choose the Red or the Blue Pill..." -Getting My Matrix On!

For some time now (if you've been paying attention), I've been on this extreme hunt for this particular chair that you now see pictured to the left. Which is your typically class tufted leather wing back chair, or "executive chair" as some may call it. Why? Oh cause for one, I'm a big fan of the Matrix movie (NO, a simple poster wouldn't do) and it's a DOPE looking chair wouldn't you agree? Remember the infamous "red or blue pill" scene in the movie, in which "Morpheus" sat to both offer Neo "the choice" and explain just "WHAT is the Matrix?" Of course it's NOT the EXACT chair but $#it...It's close enough for me! Much like "Neo" I was searching the internet looking for "Morpheus"...well the chair I mean and came across this one on good ole Craigslist, I didn't hesitate to call. Coincidentally dude lived RIGHT by my gig, so I stopped by and copped it on the spot (after talking the brother down $ome). Cat even delivered it SAME day for me. SWEET! Btw his crib in Harlem was SICK!!! He was a brother moving out from his renovated brownstone in Harlem to Wash. D.C. but swore he loved Brooklyn. That's cool and all, but I just came for the damn chair! Not tea and chit chat LOL! NOW I'm a lil' bit happier been that I finally cross that off my wish list. Gotta get a black rotary phone now, to make things look even more legit.

Side note: here's the song that started playing in my head as he was dropping the chair off at my pad.

"Bed-Stuy: We Cut Heads!" -Finally My Search Has Ended, Now What's Next?

I'm not sure if you guys have been following my desperate and unsuccessful search for a antique barber chair have you? Well, to bring you up to speed, yeah I've been on the hunt for one for the LONGEST time! Why? Ummm, just because I guess. Nah to be quite honest, I'm not only a fan of just iconic antique pieces, I simply admire the craftsmanship that's put into the making of them as well. If you find a really good one, in pristine condition, it's a thing of beauty I tell you. In the past during my chair hunting, I've come ever so close to finding one. But on closer inspection (i.e. in person and not in an on line photo) they never lived up to what I was hoping for. Either it was the wrong style, the price was more than I was willing to pay, the owner had not way to deliver it to me...It was always SOMETHING! I was starting to feeling like I was on-line/blind dating barber chairs (LOL). But now I take that as a sign to simply be patience, cause "Baby I found the right one!" I was reluctant to spend that amount of money through e-Bay, but something said "Al, go for it!" and the voice was coming from my gut. And my gut is rarely wrong. Angry sometimes, like when I eat cheese or drink milk, but never wrong. Long story short, BOOYAH(!) I scored the winning bid one a NICE one! Two days later it was personally delivered and reconstructed by the former owner to my crib, no problems. Luckily for you, I've decided to share this joyous occasion with you via pics I took while it was going down. Next up now, is a antique red leather tufted "Matrix" wing chair on my list. So if you see one hold it down for me. I'll spot you for it when I get paid. Promise! I got sue sue money coming in.

Peep the video from episode ONE when I was on the hunt for a
barber's chair and got side tracked. LOL

"Tuft(ed) Love" - Hot Wing Chairs!

Ever since I saw the Matrix, and peeped Morpheus chillaxin' in one of these, I've been on the hunt to find one of my own so I can start offering my own choices of red or blue pills. However in my case The "red one" would be the morning-after pill, and the "blue one" would be a Viagra! Lol! Anyway long story short, If you do come across one of these in your travels, holla at me theMreport
@gmail.com
. My budget is round $200-$225 tops. You are aware it's a recession right? I may thrown in a lil' sumthin' your way for helping me. I ain't saying that it's money but, it'll still be a lil' sumthin'. FYI I'm leaning more towards a deep red one, like in the movie, but hey I ain't picky man.

"She's/He's Not That In(ternet) You!" 21st Century Love

As Valentine' s Day approaches it's realistic to say that times have changed in the area of dating and courtship. Especially with the rise in popularity of on-line dating sites and social networks. But as things change, some things remain the same. Here's some helpful "red flags" to wake you up out of the "Matrix" of love while you're looking for a "Neo."

Sign one. You've been dating for a while, and she/he has yet to accept your friend request.

Two. All the photos in her/his gallery of you together they've cropped you out of (?)

Three, ALL 60 of her/his friends in common are dudes/chicks!

Four. You get a status notice that says she/he plans to attend the event "Freaks, Swingers, and Strippers Oh My!"

Five is, she/he mysteriously logs off AS SOON as you sign in. Hmmm?

Six would be, some girl/guy ALWAYS mentions them in a note called "My Greatest Jump-Offs EVER!-the NYC edition"

Seven
is having another page, under a different name, but with the SAME profile picture (huh?)!

I'm thinking eight would be, they have MAD albums each with a different guy/girl.

Nine, you get sent a "Let's link up" message and notices it's in a thread "replies all"

And lastly ten is a sure sign when she/he changes their status says "open relationship" while yours STILL says
"in a relationship!" YIKES!

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.51)

What was suppose to be the prelude to tomorrow's WONDER-Full party, it wound up being a BIG disappointment due to the rain. If you had came, you would have swore you walked on to the set of the Matrix:Reloaded during the Zion dance scene (lol). It was just that crazy! Only ten minutes after Sallomazing!, Ashley and I arrived, museum management pulled the plug. Claiming it was a "safety" issue if the party were to continue. NO, it's a safety issue for YOU if stopped the party, is what I thought. I was "boo-ing" right along with everyone else. Oh well, I'M hoping they give DJ Spinna a "rain date" Brooklyn NEEDS another party like that. Now I REALLY can't wait for "Rock the BlocK" (on Aug 9th) even more. DJ Scratch and Spinna are gonna KILL the "B.I.G. Pimpin' " Jay-Z & Biggie tribute on that day. Anyway, the pic you see below w/ L.A., Chandon and I with our back to you are of us thinking up a plan B, for the team to hit up. To be continued...
