"Hold Up! Wait A Minute!" -Any Given Sundae On Pause, So Put Down Your Forks!

Grave news folks! Our uber Sunday brunch soiree' "Any Given Sundae" (that WAS set to launch this Sunday July 31st) will be delayed sorta like how "Watch The Throne" was however like pre-sales you can STILL RSVP here on Facebook, so you'll be the very first to know the official official kick off date! Word is the chef (& NO that's not him pictured) is still working on a few signature dishes to perfection to set the menu apart from these other lame-o brunches just trying to get you drunk on the Lord's rest day. LMAO SoCo wants your experience to be the great FOOD that soaks up all that liquor that keeps you coming back! Yet they DO have a rather tasty sangria & apple crumb Mimosa. I hope that that's NOT the chicken (pictured) that they plan on serving with the red velvet waffles that they have over there!!! PLEASE we're asking for your patience, we're waiting to make this happen just like you! If you ever pass by SoCo ask them "Where's the brunch?"

Truely yours,

On behalf of Mike Mancini, MIH Ventures, DJ CEO, & the entire Block Association family..

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.224)

I love it when a plan comes together! That's from the A-team if I remember correctly right? Well it's even BETTER when the V-team comes together! Ok so last week Wed. we (as in the Block Association Virgos) got together to do a mature dinner party to "break bread" (money & food) and slow things down a bit, to enjoy a good meal before we bring the ruckus to Room Service Friday on "Virgo's Night Out!" Here's some behind the scenes shots I managed to take of the crew in between the jokes, partying, & drinks while filming the "trailer" for the coming soon "movie" we taped at Room Service. Which BTW if you missed that...DAMN! it was a truly incredible night! Thank YOU on behalf of the team @ Room Service & the Block for making this past week so DOPE! Now it's on to the next...

Please feel free to join us EVERY Wed @

"Lost In Translation"-Do you Understand The Words That Are Coming Outta My Mouth?

At times when I'm feeling too lazy to cook (which is quite often) I find myself picking up a hot cooked meal at this Halal spot just block away from my crib. Lately I've taken notice that the African girl at the register has been taken a liking to me. Even though she's "kinda" cute, problem is...I don't speak a lick of African. Curious I ask one of the more familiar faces "Excuse me, ummm who's the new girl behind the ringer?" From what I best could make out what he answered was, "Oh, the girl you speak of is D'frei Kah Dwyck. She is VERRY VEERY popular back home with the men!" Mind you saying all this while holding my shoulder and gave a strong wink at the end. Naive ol' me thought nothing really of it at the time. I introduced myself and we managed to exchange numbers, working with what little English she knew. A few days past, and in the middle of her first visit to my crib she asks "So where should I disrobe and dance for you?" I looked around like "Errr?" She continued and said "Why do you seem so puzzled? Did the older man not tell you about me? I'am D'frei Kah Dwyck." Still confused I'm like "Yeah isn't that your name?" She simply shook her head, and said in much clearer, much slower English "Oh NO Alanzo, I am the freak of the week." Then it finally hit me. Oh, so this isn't a "date" at ALL, is it?

said...I'm down, especially since I'm less likely to go out in the evenings when it starts getting dark and cold. Kid-friendly and conscious crowd is a draw for us mamas. A little more detail on cost, time, location would be helpful...

said...Of course I'd go, love that sort of thing, I'd rather do that then a nightclub. No offense to the parents but I wouldn't go to one that had kids at it...crying babies, screaming/running around kids, good music, drinks & food aren't a great mix in nightlife.

said...This sounds like a fun idea! I love brunch-time! Perfect excuse to drink during daylight!

said...I am a vegetarian! Wish there were more healthy choices. it's always fried this and fried that. Our people suffer from diabetes and a whole host of ailments brought on by poor eating habits: hypertension, heart attacks, obesity. Come on let's get with it. There are some great places opening up in the hood.

said...I LOVE this idea! As I am a Brunch- aholic, I go to the Den at least once or twice a month. Even better if there is all you can drink mimosas. And even better if it is in Harlem!I can't say I would travel to BK on a Sunday morning or afternoon...

Amenan said...PLEASE make this happen! I would absolutely LOVE it.

Martha Banks said...I would pay up to $25 if it's all you can drink and the food size - plated entree and / or brunch are healthy portions.
Actually tack on tax and tip that could be a bit much but I would say tax and tip included up to $28 but would prefer $26. LOL!

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.89)

"It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday." Remember that joint from Boys II Men? Well we didn't sing it but that's how we collectively felt during the send off dinner party for Nasrin (good friend of Adam West's) Saturday past. After doing some extensive research in the field of retail sales & marketing (i.e. window shopping) Ashley and I shot over to the restaurant of Nasrin's choice around 6ish, I think it was called Elephant, a nice quaint Thai eatery over on 1st (St.) and 1st (ave. and 2nd ave.). It was about 12-15 of us it the joint and we took up half the restaurant! Yeah that's how tiny it was in there. Also it felt as if Ash and I we're the only Americans at the table, so conversations were choppy, until I took out my handy "English to American English" translation book. Talking should have came w/ subtitles for this night. LOL! Shyvonne, another naive New Yorker showed up to even the team out but it was too late. Dinner done off! Oh well, see you on the next trip back to the States "Nas" it was fun "n'it" (that's Brit for "isn't it") *BTW Shyvonne has a show on Thursday she wants ya'll to know about: WHEN: 9/18- Thursday @ 10:30pm WHERE: OS Art House on John St. HOW: $10 buckaroos
