"My Big Brother Was B.I.G.'s Brother" -Jay-Z & Biggie Homecoming Party!

I've personally decided to take things up a notch from last year, simply because Brooklyn...no wait, scratch that. New York NEEDED this to happen! Last year was a tease and only due to the time frame we had back at the (now gone) Frank White venue, we HAD to keep it brief. Oh no not this year we're "GOIN' IN!" Not only do Spinna & Scratch collectively have treats from both artist and original samples of their hits. Plus I've composed along w/ my long time friend artist/ producer Kwame' the FIRST EVER theme song for an event! YES, you read right, the "B.I.G. PIMPIN' " tribute party will start off with a theme song titled "99 B.I.G. Problems!" made specifically for this affair. I was gonna save it as a surprise till the day of, but thought you'd enjoy it more if when you heard it Sat, you'd KNOW what time it was. Now keep in mind , I haven't been behind a sound board to produce ANYTHING in years so I'm a bit rusty, but none the less here's the link to download the dope intro:

"A Block Ahead Of You..." -A Rock the Block BK Visual Aide For Sat. Aug. 15th...History Baby!

Okay folks we're in the home stretch portion of 5 days till Rock the Block BK, Brooklyn's BIGGEST urban arts festival and party. So to help you navigate your way around DUMBO, I've posted some "visual landmarks" to guide you along the way. Trust me, It's REALLY simple if you know how to follow instructions. To begin if you're traveling via mass transit best bet is to take the F train to York St. station. Last car going downtown from the city, 1st if heading from BK. Once out of that loooong station tunnel make a right on to Jay St. and stroll down one block.

Cross Front St. and you'll see ReBar plain as day, which is where the VONY spoken word lounge, food, drinks, bathrooms, DJ's and live acoustic acts will be hosted in. Cool? That's kicking off from 1pm-6pm. Then back open later for a special VIP after party (11pm-4am) w/DJ Trauma & DJ Goldfinger!

Walk further past Rebar to Pearl St. and to the right you'll see a court yard w/ a lone standing building there. THAT'S the Dumbo Loft space! That's we you can purchase either an ALL ACCESS VIP pass or simply pay for whatever event you intend on see that day. For instance 2pm-6pm is the "Canvas & Chaos" fashion show w/ the Ahficionados djaying and live performances. Then after a brief intermission, from 6:30-10:30pm the huge concert starts w/ Jeese Boykins III, Print, Honey La Rochelle, Heavy, & Yazarah! FIYAH! A brief intermission again, then the night time fun begins (10:30-2:00am) w/ Rock the Block BK and Keistar's "B.I.G. PIMPIN' " -B.I.G. & Jay-Z tribute party w/ DJ's Spinna & Scratch...DOPE!

Do remember this is an event to showcase the growing culture of talent dwelling and networking within our vast city, we're ust bring you our personal favorites in ONE DAY! FYI* there will be a vendor's maket place located on the SAME block as ReBar a few doors down (you'll pass it on your way to the Dumbo Loft) as well. Enjoy the day. "What's Beef?" -the Jigga & Frank White Debate Heats Up! B.I.G. PIMPIN' Sat. Aug. 15th

With the "B.I.G. PIMPIN' " event quickly approaching (Sat. Aug. 15th), I posed the unknowingly difficult question to folks, of who they we're feelin' the most between the two iconic artist (Biggie & Jay). Some took long ass pauses, some were conflicted on choosing, then some felt it was even sacrilegious just to ask! Well, here's a clip of me playing "eyewitness reporter" to see who folks are rooting for.

"Brooklyn's Bad Boys Back Again!" -2 Weeks Left Till "B.I.G. Pimpin' " Rock the Block BK

Let me explain to you how I can't WAIT for this event...This day, a BK day in history if you will, to happen! It's TWO Saturdays (yep Aug. 15th) away and I feel like it's the day before Christmas! In the interim, I've been familiarizing myself with both B.I.G. & Jay-Z's libraries of music, like I was studying for a test. Last year at this tribute Spinna & Scratch did their damnedest to "go in" on their loooog list of hits these guys had. I can only imagine what the fellas have cooked up for this year's BK banger. But 1st things 1st, ya gotta cop those tix to be able to experience it all with us & the rest of NYC in DUMBO. Special VIP $20 tix on-line now at RocktheBlockBK.com

"Sip The Juice, I Got Enough To Go Around..." -

How come as SOON as we decided to honor Jigga (while he's still livin') VIBE magazine wants to jump on the bandwagon too?
