"Bombs Over Brooklyn" -City's Pigeon Fine Is For the Birds

In reaction to the "Feed a Pigeon, Breed a Rat" campaign the City is heavily promoting. And the recent announcement that there will be a hefty fine given if a human is caught feeding the birds, let alone socializing with one. Radical right wing pigeon militants (H.O.T. Wings) have taken their fight to the streets (or rather air) to voice opposition to the City's decision. Here are some excepts from a letter sent (via carrier pigeon) to the press expressing their stance on the issue:

"Food out here on the streets, let alone GOOD food, is hard enough to come by for us as is! Trust me, we despise those garbage grubbing rats just as much, but this new law is downright discrimination! If we cannot eat and live comfortably nether will you! Random acts of bird droppings will rise dramatically until this law is revoked. Nothing...I mean NOTHING will be safe! Your homes, yours cars, your playgrounds and parks. Your little league soccer games, outdoor concerts, picnics and yes even your breakfast bagels and expensive Mermaid logo coffee you so badly crave in the morning. ALL will be targets of our attacks! If you've never stood up for something, do not fall for this!"
Signed "Ruffled Feathers"
H.O.T. Wings Leader

P.S. We are wise to your "exploding" rice and poisoned bread crumb tricks.

The NYPD and City officials usually tend to ignore empty hostile threats from such like groups, but when they saw the attached photo, especially the one in the beret, they knew that they meant business. That "morning bagel" reference was enough to scare me man.

"Hook(ed) On Ikea"- BK Ikea Opens In Red Hook

You, my friend, are bearing witness to the commercialization of my beloved Brooklyn. Now don't get me wrong, I've always been an advocate for progress, but SHEESH! It seems like every other week a new announcement for some major chain is popping up that's opening in BK. Let's run it down now, shall we? There's Target, Home Depot, Applebee's & Papa John's (in Bed-Stuy), Subways, IHop, Dunkin Donuts, the new Nets stadium going up, and now the largest East coast Ikea in Red Hook. Throw in a Costco, an Apple store and a Wal-Mart, and Brooklyn will be the new suburbs for Mahattanites. No, seriously that's what the booming saturation of these chains are gearing toward. "We" have a tendence to think that the " 'hood" improvements are for "us." No sir, it's simply to make folks who are forced out of the ever rising rent prices in the city, more comfortable about moving into the outer boroughs, period. Trust me, it will be a welcome change of convenience, being able to not have to catch an early morning shuttle to Elizabeth (NJ) just to purchase a much need "Jaskler" or that bedroom "Lanjackt" I saw in the catalogue. But how much "convenience" will it be once my local bodega is bought out by Starbuck's and my rent goes north?

"Let's Be Frank" -Frank White Lives On St. James...Again!

The Great Frank White has been resurrected, and is livin' back on St. James in Brooklyn! And NO, this is not some "Gravy" sighting I witnessed. Acting a scene from the upcoming B.I.G. movie. This Frank White had doughnuts, and yummy muffins in it (much like Biggie was "notorious" for eating) lol. My homegirl for some time now, hit me up with a flier in pasting awhile ago, and explained how she was getting into the "Starbucks" biz. My first thought was, the logo is dope (I'm into design, and branding big time btw) but never put the name and address (St. James) together. But now, months later, after seeing the location and the vibe inside, it all makes so much sense. I'm sure "Frankie" would approve...and hang out there. Look to join us Thurs, May 1st for the next edition of "the Class Reunion" w/ Game Rebellion (band) vs (brand) Coup d'Etat BK! hosted by yours truely, the Minority Report w/ Nicole James, Kiser and YUME.

Frank White

936 Atlantic ave. btwn St. James & Washington Ave.
Open 8am-4pm Sun. 9am-5pm

"God Spam It, What Now!"- the Minority Haters, Majority Lovers

It would appear that haters come in ALL mediums. I recently learned of this just this weekend when I attempted to do some weekend rough draft blogging and received an e-mail informing me that my blog (or rather your blog) has been flagged as a "Spam Blog" and that I would have to wait four business days to for a review to confirm I'm a "good guy." WHAT?!! Ummm, wouldn't it be just simpler to just READ the blog to figure it's not "spam." Do the folks at Blogger. com know how much important stuff can happen within four business days? How many read depend on blogs for their daily "sugar" fix? This is an outrage! This is worst than when Starbucks closed to four hours! We all know how crazy things got when THAT happened right? Well it's fixed now or you wouldn't be reading this now, whew that was extremely inconvenient. Thanks for being patience, and your continued support. And now on with the show...
