"Who Stole the Soul" -Gnarls Barkley Early Reveiw

One day while searching for the elusive sounds of Gnarls Barkley in cyber-space, I lucked up on a blog (Find A Soul for Sale) that had not one, but FIVE new unreleased tracks from their forth coming CD
( "Odd Couple" out April 8th). Without hesitation I clicked the download tab, only to be met with yet another dead-end But there was still some hope, because the posting instructed fans to email if they needed the links. Sounds like spy stuff right? Anyways, the person contacted me had high appraisal of the Minority Report ("I LOVE this blog"-his exact words, no lie) and sent an attachment of the ear candy I was fiendin' for. I preceded to plugged my headphones in, looked around like I had smugged a Mexican across the border, and hit play on the first track.
"A Little Better" I think it was...pure CRACK! The kinda stuff Frank Lucas sold, not that watered down crap. Some clear liquid started leaking from a single eye of mine but I figured it was allergies. Nah bro, it was happy tears my man, and I'm not ashamed to say it. These dudes did "IT"! "It" being having pulled off a even better 2nd album that compliments the first, and vice versa. Man, was I relieved that they were not another one hit wonder (where they are now) group. Now mind you I'm still on the 1st cut by the way (lol). Gratefully the rest that I heard was beyond my expectations as well. I see Grammys in their future. I would share them with you but, yes yet again the "Gnarls Gestapo" somehow managed to delete the e-mail that contained the tracks (they can do that?). The very next day, they were mysteriously gone from my inbox...Hmmm. Well at least I have the track listing for you right.

"My Man..." -American Gangster on DVD

No this is not a late posting, I'm announcing the release of the movie studio's version, not the bootleg you already own (lol). I'm referring to the one that the Oscar Academy has overlooked to nominate Denzel (and Russell) this year to be Best Actor, or even Best Film (props to Ruby Dee though, for oldest nominated Best Supporting Actress, 'bout time). Some folks I spoke to about the film were a bit disappointed by the over all story and portrayal of Frank Lucas' character. I feel that they went into the theater expecting to see "African-American" Gangster, an anti-hero to replace years of idolizing Cuban immigrant turn drug-lord Tony Montana (Scarface). But instead got "the business thug" perspective on the silver screen. Well I say to them "Boo F'ing Hoo!" Me, personally I dug the refreshing change from the expected scenes of violence usually associated with this genre. It was one of Denzel's better acted roles in a minute. I'm pretty sure the DVD will be released with a two-disc collectors version with all the bells and whistles that fans like in their special features.

What do Picasso, the Smurfs, (African-)American Gangster Frank Lucas, and DVD's all have in common? If you answered "They've had a close relation and/or affection for the color Blue", then you're one Smart Choice baked cookie. According to the "Gatekeepers of Color" up at Pantone, they're forecasting that Blue will be the "in" hue for 2008. Expect to see the color in it's multi-varied tones on all types of consumer products from Blu-ray DVDs, to iPods, and different accessories in Men's and Women's Fashion. Personally I was rooting for Green for just one more year, cause a brother could definitely use more of that. Feel Me?
