"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.239)

Oh damn man, my bad! I got SO caught you with the holidays and all that I damn near forgot to post these pics from the Emerson two Thursdays (Dec.26th) ago, where I hosted the Minority Report's 1st holiday office party. Not only was the turn out MUCH bigger than I had imagined it to be, the other surprise was a guest DJ set by DJ Goldfinger that turned the party into...well, a damn PARTAY! Netic (Game Rebellion), Chris Faust, Tiffany Rhodes (Butch Diva), Daoud (Coup D'Etat BK), Reese Splendid, Hard Hitting Harry, Kwesi Abbennsetts, & Debora Rivas Manso all showed up as promised to host one of the best parties I've had so far this winter! Before Goldie got on Frei (of the Block Association/the Ahficionados)and myself took turns warming the crowd up to warn them that the stuff that they normal hear in clubs is gonna take a backseat tonight! I was having the time of my life till I realized someone "Bernie Made-off" with my NEWLY purchased Adidas scarf just days old! Merry F@*#IN' Christmas to whom ever swiped it, I hope it gets caught in a closed subway door and pulls your ass down a looong platform! Peep that striped blue/blk scarf in the background of the first picture to the left of Goldfinger. That's the last I saw of it and "POOF!" it was Houdini'd outta there! Oh well, THANKS to the Emerson for letting me host our "office" event at there swanky venue and THANKS to all who hosted and attended. Love is love, & spreading it is the Brooklyn way! Right? I'm STILL mad though, errrrrr!

With each passing year something old is replaced by something new. That's IF it's even replaced at all! So alas I'm saddened to say (CUE THE VIOLINS) that Room Service on Fridays will be NO MORE. However while going through my iPhotos cache I spotted some pics from our final days over there that I deemed worthy to post finally being that the holidays were done. S/O's to Stormy McNair, Melissa Alvarez, & Laura Abreu who celebrated there b'days with us and are pictured down below. Besides the picture came out GREAT (if I do say so myself) and I'm sure you'd wanna share 'em with friends & the fam. Enjoy my people!

"Green Yodas & Ham!" -Star Wars Gets Seuss'd By Adam Watson

Just the other day I happen upon whilst surfin' the 'Net some curiously odd sketches conceived by cartoonist Adam Watson like looked distinctly similar to the drawings of Dr. Seuss yet took on the likens of our most beloved Star Wars characters! On closer inspection I thought aloud "What a way to blend two favored childhood memories into one NEW one huh?" Ingenious I tell you! So now I'm sharing them with you to enjoy the renderings that stuck my fancy. Getting the rights to do a book is gonna be HELL! But yet I hope I happens. It'll be a fun way to rediscover an ol' Jedi tale.

"New Jack Gritty" -True Grit Review

If you did like half of America did over the holidays, decided to take in a movie, and it wasn't Little Fockers, then the only other sane adult option was this Coen Bros. remake True Grit (I'm assuming that you've seen Black Swan already of course). Let me be quite honest with you up front, I've NEVER seen a western style movie in the theaters...EVER. But as a matured movie goer, I've grown to appreciate a GREAT story w/ substance and even better acting, than paying to see explosions, insane amounts of violence, and over paid actors. But after hearing the acting line- up, the Coen's directorial involvement, and the hype about this break-out new young actress plucked from obscurity, my ticket was SOLD! Between you and me , the last western I've watched and was hooked into was Young Guns I & II, HONESTLY! No lie folks. Bad huh? Anyways this film's highlight isn't the shoot 'em up, gun fights westerns are known for. It's the rapid fire word play and wit that's exchanged back and forth between the starring actors. Especially the wiser than her age "Mattie Ross" (played by young actress Hailee Steinfeld) who out for retribution for her decreased father murdered in cold blood by "Tom Chaney" (Josh Brolin's character). This is were surly one-eyed U.S. Marshal Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) gets reluctantly dragged into the mix along with Texas ranger La Boeuf (played by Matt Damon) when Mattie "out sources" his services to help hunt the killer down. What I was most impressed by when watching was the quick pace story telling and the comedic timing all the actors shared together, as if the had acted together for ages. Me personally, would find it intimating as a first timer to the big screen, to be not only paired with such big names actors all at once. But to have SO MUCH screen time, and have to carry a major released film! Kudos to Hailee on that one! Anyways long story short this joint was a great distraction from the cold weather and piling garbage that New York is currently having. Also it made me think "I CAN'T wait till Tarantino does his version of a Western!" Imagine how dope THAT would be? Okay so True Grit gets 4 out of 5 M's and that's ONLY cause I wished it had ended differently. Oh BTW, here's some poster variations I found that didn't make the cut State side.
