"Color Me Bad...Kaleidoscope!" -Miguel's Newest Release Debuts In Brooklyn

I'm STILL kicking myself that I missed his show at the Bowery Ballroom last night, but the Gods have smiled on me, cause I'm hearing that Miguel will be at Brooklyn Bowl TONIGHT! which is right im my beloved home boro so the cab fare home will be cheaper! LOL! His album was just released a couple of hrs ago, so tonight will play out as an album release party of sorts. You can thank me now.

I have a gang load of stuff for you to occupy yourself with as we close in on wraping up September ALREADY (sheesh)!  Start with an event we'll (the Minority Report NYC & the Block Boys) be hosting TONIGHT after work starting at 5:30 w/ OPEN BAR by Stoli

TODAY at Brooklyn Bowl Yume BK will be hosting a press conference and press party for the RMX2, a digital DJ console that democratizes the way DJs are now created, while paying homage to the analog roots of DJing. So what do you have to do? Well do what you do best, Blog. But here you do it live. A special area will be created just for you and you can blog in utter comfort as you bowl, eat, and drink the night away. Where do you sign up? Well that's easy. Just respond to this e-mail with your confirmation and we'll save you a spot. Spots are going rather quickly, so the sooner you do it the better. All pertinent information is below.

OK the buzz is out and the streets is talking heavy about the biggest party of the year. "New Jack City" Fridays present "Virgos Night Out".  I cant even begin to explain how big this event will be. All I need you to do is get your outfit ready now and reserve your section ASAP cause the masses are coming out for Vol 3 of this classic event.  You need to be a part of the "couch surfing" that will be orchestrated at this spectacular event. Four members of the Block Association are celebrating big and their is no spending limit on the celebration. Expect a show , decorations , Dancers , Drums , and a serious light show of bottles going around the club. You know we had to bring in the Legendary  DJ Goldfinger to bless the event properly with great  A + musical direction. I am warning you to please arrive early cause when its one Block member celebrating its MAJOR , but to have four members is like the Superbowl. a Short Film to Screen at the URBANWORLD FILM FESTIVAL 

The short film, "The Bluest Note,” is heading to the Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City, NY. Nominated for Best Narrative Short Film, it will screen at the AMC 34th Street Theater 9, Shorts Program 2, on Friday September 21 at 2:45pm 
and Saturday September 22 at 2:45pm.
 
The Bluest Note" is an honest portrait of a famous singer in the twilight of his career trying to hold on to what he once had. When he loses his voice, Tony Mann (Len Xiang) is forced to choose between pursuing his passion at all costs or accepting his new reality.
The film features moving performances by Len Xiang, Stacey Lewis, and Jaynelle Clarke. Directed and produced by Marques Green, written by Oliver Webb, and produced by Laila Petrone, “The Bluest Note” debuted at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival in August. "Guard Ya Grill!" -the Startin' 5's BBQ Video Replay Suckers!

Last Saturday I was making plans to attend that Pimps of Joytime/Navagante joint that went down at Brooklyn Bowl. HOWEVER the G train was acting like a BI**H so plan B was the next course of action. Which SHOULD'VE been plan A for the jump! Let's me rewind a bit. About a week ago my boy Jay (Jason Smith) hit me on Twitter about posting an invite to his annual StartIn' 5 BBQ event he has (who know? obviously not me) every year. And me knowing how hungry/thirsty folks get around summer time in search of that next poppin' BBQ, I warned him "You SURE you want me to do that kid!?!" Well long story short it was Planters cashew NUTS in there! And here's the footage to back it up! Start it UP! LOL

"Workin' Hard On The Block!" -Future Planning During the Present

Now WHO says you have to be in a kitchen to be cooking? Spring is HERE (well not weather wise) and Summer is quickly approaching so the Block Association is gearing up to bring you yet another fun filled, memorable year of quality events and social gathering. Starting with our grassroots movement and annual event for Black Fashion Month the "Fashion 500!" This year we're taking the campaign on-line with a viral film/PSA to bring "fashion light to those still dressing in the dark." Fashion 500 is happening at (No.1 Front St.) Sat. April 23rd so mark your calendars. We're looking to blow out last years attendance records. Then in May (the 8th Mother's Day) we hope to continue our "Rock & Bowl" series w/ Artful Dodger involved. So now you can sleep easier we GOT you on the event tip! Don't it LOOK like we're hard at work? For now enjoy Friday's w/ us at "the Class Reunion" @ Luke's Place till then.

It's ONLY July dog, and it feel like I've been to TWO Summer's worth of events in such a short span of time! Besides doing my own Block Association related events! Sheesh! The reason I'm saying all this is that, below I've post a collective of pictures from outings that I've never gotten around to posting. Between working, having social life (on-line & off), eating (in & out), sexual activity, and of course SLEEP...who has the time? I guess me obviously cause FINALLY(!) I've posted "the best of what you've been missing" in pictures. Now like me walk you through what is what. If memory serves me right, here's the order of events in which the pictures are ordered. Take a LOOOOONGG lunch break buddy cause it's ALOT! LOL! The first two are from this Fela soundtrack release party at Brooklyn Bowl, the next 17 flicks after that are from a lil' "last minute" Celtics vs Lakers playoff get together we had at No.1 Front St. in DUMBO (after the Seaport/Drake fiasco), the following 17 pics after that are from that Soul of Brooklyn site launch party next to MoCada in Fort Greene. The 13 flicks up next are from my homie Ashley Wiggins Grad dinner party at C.O.L.O.U.R.S in SoHo. The 6 behind those were taken at some Steve Madden roof top/artist showcase thing. That had you on the line longer than the actual event lasted! Fail! Moving on, I got 27 shots from the Wynter Gordon showcase that never happened thanks to some sound troubles! Then there's 18 from the Big Boi album release joint at the Puma Social Club also at the Seaport. And lastly the rest are of that Dirty Debs jump-off (same night as the Big Boi thang) that kicked off last week at Delicatessen's downstairs lounge. WHEW!
