"Get Yo Block Rocked!" -BK'S Biggest Block Party Comes to DUMBO, Saturday Aug 15th!

"Give Me A Place To Stand, And
I Will Move
Brooklyn"
-RTBBK '09

What exact IS Rock the Block BK? Only the fastest growing one day urban arts festival in Brooklyn, showcasing the boroughs most talented artist. Last year August, it was held at THREE different locations in one day, Frank White (live performances, guest DJs, "B.I.G. Pimpin' " -the Biggie and Jay-Z tribute, plus food & drinks sold), Yume (spoken word, live painting, chicken & waffle brunch, the after party w/a private performance by Ernie Gaines!) and lastly Not Just Vintage/Bush Baby (sidewalk fashion show, and vendors). You bought one pass ($20), and got access to all three locales...DOPE!
This year, man we've grown! This time around we've relocated it to DUMBO, secured a huge loft for the live performances (artist tba) and the "B.I.G. Pimpin' " event, plus a live painting/fashion show! A whole block for vendors, with Rebar as the venue resevered for smaller acts and spoken word. With a larger after party that'll go till 4am! So are you down? BTW we're still looking for talent (artist, singers, poets, photogs, intern help, models, etc.) so just check us theMreport@gmail.com Let's make memories together.

"Blind Ambition!" -"Wonder- Full" Returns to Brooklyn!

True story, some years ago there was a hair braiding spot housed inside of a brownstone two doors down from where I live called "(Something?) Kinks" (I can't think of the full name) anyway, they had a huge list of clients and Stevie Wonder was one of them. So once while in town, Stevie pulls up in a limo...on MY block, to get his hair did (lol)! The kids in the hood went WILD (to say the least) and even took my young nephew downstairs to shake his hand knowing I knew he had NO idea who Stevie was at the time! And that my friend was the ONLY time I could recall ever seeing or hearing about Mr. Wonder in Brooklyn. But now his music WILL return next sat, to a HUGE loft in the Clinton Hills section of BK, for Keistar prod.'s "WONDER-Full" annual event. Hope
fully he'll make a "surprise" appearance in Brooklyn again like he did that time on my block!

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.132)

Do yourself a favor, next time you hear something about King magazine having an event anytime soon, GO! What started to look like a slow night, quickly turned into a packed to the walls house full of industry folk, and well wishers for King's 50th(!) issue. I swore it's been more than that, but hey if they say so then who am I to argue. Cats came with their tongues hanging out, hoping to catch a glimpse of some of their lusted & loved featured models of past and present. There was NO "popping champagne" as Ron Browz sung, but Nuvo was definitely flowing heavy! Dawn from that Danity Kane group made an appearance to sing "Happy 50th" in a "Happy B'day" style, and Bussa Bus was the "surprise guest" that people where trying to guess all night. I thought AT LEAST the cover girl shoulda been there...come on! But it's a recession, that may not have been in the budget. Lol

"Flashing Lights" Paparazzi Pics (Pt.117)

Never ever in my life do I remember ever hearing about (let alone attending) soooo many small private trunk showings in such a short time! Good thing that most of the stuff was geared towards women, cause a brother would be BROKE! You understand me? There was "Secret Affair", "Shop & Mingle", and "Recessionista" all happening around the same time . The first two mentioned were even on the SAME day mind you! Anyways, here's what I've brought back for you nice and neatly wrapped. You'll go broke just LOOKING at the pics.
