"Ka-F**kin' Boom Baby!" -Black Dynamite Gets 'Tooned On August 8th, Can Ya Dig It?

Yo did you ever get a chance to peep this flick Black Dynamite? I'm not into comedies (I usually see the joke coming) but something about it being a parody of those '70 flicks peaked my interest. And I must say it ROCKED man! Funny how just the other day @pleasedontstare, @djtraumanyc, @myounglao, and myself (@theMreporter) were all going back and forth on Twitter, with memorable lines from this joint, and now I'm hearing that they're making this into CARTOON!!! I KNOW this definitely is NOT coming on early Saturday mornings! LMAO! I beg of you, go rent...f**k that, go BUY the DVD it's truly an underground classic!

"Bird, Bird, Bird, Angry Bird Is The Word!"- Tell 'em Why You Mad Son! Cluck You...

Now you damn well know that when ever anything is remotely popular (IE don't be shock this Spring to see "Winning" ala Charlie Sheen t-shirts about soon) folks involved are always looking to market (IE "cash in") on keeping in America's psyche (and wallet) Case in point, this "Angry Bird" phenom that's sweeping across the world and my iPhone...and my iTouch lately. I'd be the very 1st to admit that "YES I am an addict!" At baby showers, wakes...God bless the dead, gallery openings, bar mitzvahs, you name it! I constantly STAY pulling that sling shot back. R.I.P.'n that greedy green pork! I'm getting off track now, but what I wanted to give you is a heads up about is that not only are there plush toys coming out (or are they out already), t-shirts (mine is on back order) AND a damn cartoon are in the works! Saturday mornings will NEVER be the same! True be told after the Smurfs it NEVER was! Anyways on another note, a friend who was frustrated called me frantically wondering "Hey, I'm stuck on this level HOW do I get off?" I told her without the least bit of hesitation "Oh that's simple, just drop down and and get yo (Mighty) Eagle on girl!" But I don't think she got it. LOL. Slow chick probably somewhere STILL dancing! BONG!

"Getting 'Tooned Out!" -Minorities Are Too Animated

Okay folks I gotta put this out there. Lately I been feeling that African-Americans, yes even the cartooned ones never get full recognition for all that they've done for "the Movement" of our people feel me. I wanna for a moment, take the time to acknowledge these animated brothers for all they've done as pioneers in their field.

COUNT CHOCULA
Did you know he was the first (if not ONLY) African-American to appear on a cereal box that was not an athlete? True story! I have to do more research on what country he was actually a Count from. But I'm guessing England from his dental work. Lol. Blackula was a bite (pun intended) off of the Count if you ask me. Ironical he died of some rare blood disease at the ripe age of 240! Go figure huh?

FAT ALBERT
WAY before Heavy D, and the Fat Boys and Biggie, Al made it cool to be accepted for the extra weigh he carried around. "Just MORE of me to love!" was a phase he was credited as starting. But deep inside he was emotionally in pain for not only having a name "Albert" but added with the "Fat" in front of that...tore him apart! He wanted to be known for so much more. Such as raising awareness of childhood obesity. Which he would've been the perfect poster child of. After the show stopped airing, he attempted to reunite the Cosby kids to tour their brand of "junk yard funk" around the country. But the stress of nightly show, caused the heavy set young man to break down. Besides the fact the band was doing experimental drugs & loose sex w/ groupies! Rumor has it that Fat Albert plans to reemerge back into the public's eye via a reality TV celebrity weigh-loss show. Either way "Fats" is worth his weigh in gold.

FRANKLIN
Long time "Peanuts Gang" member Franklin helped coin the term "token." Growing up in an all-white suburban neighborhood, he was often referred to as "that cool Negro kid, with the good hair" among his peers. Having a position on Peppermint Patty's baseball team, sparked Franklin to have aspirations of going major once he got older. However in his mid-teens discovered weed & smoked it on a daily basis. Once known as "Franklin Armstrong" (his RARELY heard last name) in his twenties took on the nick name "Frankie Strongarm" which was how he got his customers to buy pot from only him. Franklin took over the "Peanuts Gang" now re-named "Nuts Gang" and fear of the gang quickly spread to other suburbs. Snoopy at one time at a bleak point in his career became a somewhat "guard dog" for him...Gangsta! After a brief stint in jail, Franklin turn to the Muslim faith and is now Franklin X. Still the only African-American who preys at his mosque. But had it not been for the induction of this once promising young man into the hugely popular Charles Schultz drawn comic strip, you may not have been the only black hired in your office today. Thank him.

"Which Way Is UP?" -The Up Movie Review

Huh...What?! Yeah I went to see "Up"...and it wasn't with any kids either so! Way I look at things is, a movie is a movie, is a movie, if it's a GREAT story being told. Right? And one thing that's not debatable is Pixar can tell a damn good story! I've seen every one of their flicks (always on DVD) so this was the first time I've actually saw one in a theater! And it's in 3D? Which to me, made the experience even doper! First off your admission tix come with these "Ray-Ban like" cool glasses so you can see the action face forward. Also keep in mind that EVERYTHING was in 3D (the short film, the credits, etc.) which was a nicely added touch. Shortly into the film I was rudely reminded exactly why I DON'T go peep these flicks in the theater...kids movies have kid crowds! Talking all loud and $#it, in yo ear at that! But hey, what did I expect in the middle of the day? At first when I first started seeing trailers for this months ago, I was like "Huh, some ol' dude as the main character? How is THIS gonna work?" But I trusted in Pixar to, and they scored. The first half of the flick is VERY heavy emotinally, which I did see coming. Dealing w/ topics such as getting older and death. Tough subjects, especially for the youth to comprehend. I'll admit it was a little depressing to me in the beginning. I guess they wanted to get all the weighty stuff out of the way, so once the action kicked in, you understood the characters motivation. BTW kudos to Pixar/Disney for using a non-white as a lead, "Russell" was drawn as an Asian kid, which kids don't really care WHAT color he is, just be funny! Even though the leads were human (which is a 1st for them) "Kevin" (the bird) and "Doug" (the dog) were the scene stealers. Good stuff folks. I highly recommend it even though it's not beating my top Pixar flick "the Incredibles" but you'll be leaving the theater still rocking the glasses fo' sho' like I did. I give it 3 out of four M's

Don't ask how I came across this, but HAD to give it further inspection. Only three words came to mind when I was done, HILL LARRY US! Come give it a look see, but keep the laughter down in your cubicle please. It's already bad enough that you took an extra day off Wednesday for the holiday weekend.

"The State of Cleveland"-Family Guy "Cleveland" Gets His Own Show!

Hahahahahahaha, You HAVE to laugh it this one!
"Cleveland Brown" the super laid back neighbor and good friend of the Griffins is getting is own show! True story! That's funny for so many reasons, the 1st one being that this will be the 1st black animated (leading character) show since...well since
"Static," that black teen superhero show.
Second reason would be that, he's voiced by a white guy. Which speaks volumes that black actors can't even get work in Hollywood to do damn voice overs too!?! I'm pretty sure it will be funny. Just the thought of the possibilities of playing on and against African-American stereotypes, is Emmy award winning material alone. And obviously there will be Family Guy character cameos, besides appearances by other (in) famous black actors. FOX is a perfect name for that network 'cause they're definitely crazy like one. Tune in folks or be tuned out.
