"Some Assembly Required" -The Avengers Movie Review

Have you ever had a crush on someone and then years later out the blue not only do they start coming around you they finally have a night of passionate sex with you? No? Well that's happened for me and that's the best way I can describe finally seeing the Avengers become a reality on screen! For years Marvel films has been dick teasing us with solo released films from each hero featured in the ensemble starting with TWO Hulks, two Iron Man flicks, then lately Captain America & Thor last year. Iron Man (thanks to Robert Downey Jr.) being the better of this bunch, Hulk being the worst. Bad ex's but not wifey, like the idea the Avengers was hoping to be. Now I've been an avid comic book collector since the early 80's and the thought of the team ever becoming a movie was as far fetched as the story lines in the books themselves LOL! And if so, NOT a very good one! I actually was nervous FOR Marvel knowing how bad this coulda ended up. EVERYONE was wrong! This movie was everything it was suppose to be! It was like not only finally getting to bed your life long crush but she invites her freaky girlfriends to join in! And then they cook breakfast the morning after! YEAH THAT GOOD! To be honest I'm more of a Batman type of guy. Not the books, more so the Nolan films. It's a bit more "reality" based for my liking. But you couldn't go that route with this one, TOO many over the top powered super beings to play it that way. So the beat 'em up explosive popcorn movie it HAS to be. the Avengers biggest battle however was to not give EVERYTHING away via the leaked flicks & 20 plus trailers! I was secretly hoping that the alien threat was those damn blue dudes from Avatar! But it's looking like the Avengers will be beating them up at the box office instead! LOL! Oh but the way, not  to spoil things for you but not only does Hulk SMASH(!) in the film, the director Joss Whedon does too! 4 out of 5 M's for this one

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.262)

Okay this was our second time at bat, hosting an event at the World Bar (in Trump Towers) and it was remarkably even BETTER than the first time! DJ CEO filled in for DJ Trauma who was filling in for DJ Clue who was MIA (no LITERALLY he was in MIA)! But as usually Frei did a superb job of warming patrons up till CEO hit the set and ripped the dance floor a new a**hole! The Journ3y Men made a guest cameo appearance and had some great looking women in tow (S/O to Doc & Logan...wink). What took this party over the top was the dope 80's set spun that night! Yeah we know it was Labor Day weekend but for that moment in time the Parkway was the furthest from folks mind! Anyways if you miss this one we'll definitely be back here THIS Saturday 9/10 for the 2nd Annual "VIRGOS NIGHT OUT" affair that packs the city's top fashionable Virgos (and the folks the love them) under one roof! Early time 9pm-3am this time around too!

You Remember every summer that pasts it's at least ONE banger of a party that you praise the heavens for reminding you "Life is good?" Now let me ask you this, are you tired of going out to affairs where the crowd looks absolutely fabulous but act like it's a damn tea & biscuits soiree' even when the DJ is going "H.A.M." on the set? Now what if the two were married? A party where "the Beautiful Ones" didn't care about breaking a motherf**kin' sweat and still looked damn good doing it! We like to call that (say it with me now) "Sophisticated Ignorance" folks. That perfect pairing between glitz and gangster. "Gangster glam" and guess you can say. That moment where the music is SO right that them red bottoms start coming off, and those cuff linked shirts become unbuttoned and swung around in the air helicopter style! EXACTLY! Now allow me to introduce you to "F**k Yo Couch!" -a once a month event so focused on both the music and a great looking mix/vibe of invited people (like yourself) that it's bound to go international by next year...Trust! "We On To The X!" -X-Men First Class Reveiw

I haven't wrote a review in a minute huh? If I recall the last one was Hanna a while ago right? It's not like I haven't seen any new movies out (well ONE, that being Thor) I just wasn't inspired to review it that's all. But this one HERE is a totally different flex man. First off going in it was seen as the underdog of all the superhero based movies coming out, based on the past X-man failed adaptions and the hot mess of a movie Wolverine. So it's understandable why. And secondly, the trailer does no justice to the deeply involved story line this movie offers. Anyway long story short, this movie's first act of heroism was to SAVE the X-men franchise from ruin! To me it was like James Bond meets Inglorious Bastards meets Episode III :Revenge of the Sith and a lil' Austin Powers thrown in for good measure. It was word going around town that a Origins: Magneto movie was in the works, well this basically WAS that! Just that it was balanced with the start of the X-men thrown in. I followed the X-men heavy in the 80's, John Bryne era and even though the film changes stuff up for hard core fans to be mad at. You'll get over it once you admit this version is pretty damn good. Why such high praise? Well for me it answered so much stuff I never even thought to ask about the history of these misfit heroes. The Mansion/School concept, the Prof. X/Magneto former BFF relationship, the suit design, the Blackbird Jet...just ALOT of stuff dawg. There was even room for a surprise cameo of the most famous X-Men of all thrown in the mix too. Man, this Matthew Vaughn director should've BEEN on board for the past X-films! I'll admit that I clapped at the last 2o mins. of this films climactic Mexican stand-off between mutants vs mutants vs Americans vs Russians vs mutants...pure DOPENESS! 4 out of 5 M's as in mutants for this one! X marks the spot!

"Thunder, Thunder, Thunder God!"-Thor Movie Poster & Trailer

I'm truly AMAZED that in my lifetime would I ever think to see an official "Thor" movie being made let alone an Avengers movie! But low and behold fans of Asgard, the young God is finally getting his just due come next Spring (May I believe, if the studio doesn't push it back again). I've been a reader of Thor since a youth, when faved artist/writer Walt Simonson took over the book and help bring back the Norse native to popularity back in the 80's (1983). But enough geek reminiscing, here's something for our future geeks to look forward to.

"Flashing Lights" -Paparazzi Pics (Pt.207)

WOW! What else can I REALLY say about last weekend? Words like, "awesome", "epic", "historical", "monumental", "memorable", "life-changing", all come to mind. But yet I was speechless at the overwhelming turnout (and then later feedback) to the Block Association's hosting of Target's 1st Sat. dance party (organized by Society HAE). We thought it WOULD be big, but had no idea to that magnitude. It HAD to be I say at least 3,500-4,000 folks in attendance in the Brooklyn Museum's back parking lot. It seemed like the stars were aligned for us! The weather was near PERFECT, it was outdoors, the date fell on our anniversary weekend, AND the musically theme (inspired by Warhol/Studio 54) 80's hits was universal to the crowd that came out...DOPE! The highlights of the night for me was seeing folks I hadn't seen in years & 1st time attendees come out in support. Plus the crowd obeying our every command, hands high. Then the united "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!" shout out the audience gave us mid-way through our set. Only flaw, was when the power shut off for a brief minute or so. Which didn't stop the crowd from clapping it up to keep the vibe going. But hey, would it be the ULTIMATE Brooklyn "park jam" if that DIDN'T happen? Thank YOU if your attended to both the museum & the after party! We LOVE you! Now the question is..."What's NEXT?"
