"Old School, New School Need To Learn" -Know(les) The Ledge! Bey Samples

I had so much fun with the Shyne one yesterday I decided to go head & post this one too. Now don't be fooled, Mrs. Hova (Beyonce') is not a stranger to loops my friend. Though her's are a lil more clever and off the beaten path of break beats, at the end of the day they STILL are samples none the less. I've taken the time to post some good examples of just what I'm referring to. Most are old soul samples, but the originals are just as hot as the records she's made them into.

"I Wanna Rock Right Now!"-Dwayne (Lil') Wayne's In A Different World!

Now don't read me wrong, I love it when an artist can stretch beyond their commonly know limits and venture into something new but WHY go backwards? The problem I have is I think folks fail to realized Rap is the number ONE selling form of music on the charts right now! Why try to go Pop (Kanye?) or Rock (Lil' Wanye?) if you're out selling those guys ANYWAY? Let one of those Rock dudes try and make a Rap album, you'd be all over him in a heartbeat. To me Pop is any widely pop-ular selling song from ANY one of those genres, the way I see it. History has proven that and large percentage of modern music is derived from black culture (i.e. Rock, Rap, Jazz, R&B, Soul) yet we (as a people) STILL don't feel successful unless we "crossover" and adored in white folks eyes. Haven't we proven ourselves enough? My President is black for God's sake!

"The Kitchen Is Now Closed" - Issac "Chef" Hayes Passes

I hate to have bad premon-
itions on good people, but when I had made plans to see Issac Hayes at the Prospect Park Band shell I had said to myself "This is a musical legend...In Brooklyn! When if ever will I get the chance to see him perform?" Even then I felt his time was short on this Earth. Sad thing is, I never made it over there. Now knowing of his passing I live with both sadness AND regret. So long to one of the best "Soul" Chefs that ever cooked. You made music hot and fresh. You are missed already. -the Minority Report honors you.

"Honey So Sweet"-Never Too Old To Celebrate A B'day Too Late.

God, I love a GOOD house party! Especially when it's with GREAT people. When I was a "shy guy" I ain't dig 'em too tough (for obvious reasons) but now I'm quite comfy around folks whom I may not know. Anyway enough about me, this was Ms. Honey LaRochelle's much belated birthday party her dearest friends popped off, due to her conflicting tour schedule with her real one. In the last pic you see down bottom, she'd holding a flier for a late night "crave" show, she's singing at the legendary Blue Note (I post the actual flier so you can read it better lol). It's ONLY $8 bucks kids! If you've NEVER been to the "Note" jump on it tomorrow ya'll!
