It is quickly becoming one of my favorite Summer rites of passage each year it comes round. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY was out, showing the power of Black love, pride, and history. I tried to capture as much of the essence of the festival as possible, as I said tried, but the pictures only scratching the surface. The smells, the sound, the buzzing chatter of conversation, you need to expericence first hand for yourself. Enjoy what I got.

After the last one (w/ Game Rebellion & Coup D'etat BK) the streets have been buzzing about this upcoming one, being the biggest one so far, and they may be right. See I'm not one to spread rumors or hearsay but, we may have a 3rd special guest host rockin' with us.

She'll definitely be in town, so "Mighty Mike P." of YUME is pulling strings to get her in the building. So if you're an ol' girlfriend, classmate, booty call or whatever, don't start calling me now for any "hook-ups". Too late baby, time's up...kaboom!

Remember how in the Ernie Gaines ("On Another Note") posting I was preachin' to you about fate? Well here's more evidence. Friday I get a call from Kwesi apologizing about the late pictures he needed to sent me for ("Boutiquer Frequer") and asked if my "Wunder Twin" Ashley was up to the task of styling for the "Teach the Babies" fashion fundraiser to be held on Monday. Which is only two days away!!! I agreed for her, and we both decided to meet up w/ Zebi and Wendy (of Born As A Raggamuffin) Saturday for the model fitting (which I wasn't gonna miss..feel me). However little did know that I was being set up to be "adopted" by Zebi's youngling and made into a "Yoda of Lego's". I was all good though, cause in between "Hide & Seek" and "Airplane" plus the Lego's, I did manage to get some cool "behind the scenes" shots to show off to you guys. Besides, it is suppose to be about the kids...Right?

"Pardon Me...Slick Rick, You're On"-Guv Shows Rick Luv

First time we get an African-American Gov, and what is his first noble act in office for the black community? Yep you guessed it...
Free Slick Rick!
Ya damn right!
Just the other day, while you were in Cancun, waking up to some chick you met, THAT morning. Gov. Paterson was hard at work, making sure Hip-Hop honored "Ricky Dee" stayed put in the country that adopted him as it's own. Ending an deportation threat he carried with him for 11 yrs! And that ain't no "Children's Story"
At a news conference held to made the announcement public, the elated "Original School" rapper had this to say about his deterrents,
"La di da di, I like to party. I don't cause trouble, and I don't bother nobody... CRUMBS!"
Then dropped the mic and left the podium. Ironically though, he's scheduled to perform at deportation centers through out the U.S. Anyways, the Minority Report wishes him well, and says "Knock'em out the box Rick! Goodnight!"
Now, if only Paterson could pardon Remy Ma next, then all will be right with the world...Right?

"King of the Castle" -Meaty Gossip

Due to both hamburger franchises taking a "whopper" of a beating with falling stocks, secret meetings have been held between the two fast food chains in hopes of forming a "Super Sized" restaurant conglomeration to fulfill all your (deep fried) needs. A rep for the two groups had this to say about the speculations being said.
"Ya see, the big Golden M has held the burger industry by the nuggets for far too long people! We mutually felt it was time to (milk) shake things up a bit." And thought, "Hey every (Burger) King NEEDS a (White) Castle so it made perfectly (salted) sense to us. Hit'em with the ol' one two combo (meal) and they'll be begging for (a side) order. It's as American as (two) apple pie(s for a dollar), my friend! Start adding extra holes to your belt, if both parties agree to the merger it will be a BIGGIE (fries)! The new slogan being tossed around is
"Crave it Your Way!"
(And ummm, by the way, when did the Burger King start rockin' a two finger ring and Nas's QB medallion?)

"Shoot to Ill"-NY Photo Festival in Dumbo
Over the past weekend, T.C., Ashy & I headed over to the NY Photo Festival being held down in Dumbo one fine sunny day. Ash had the "hook-up", so we quickly received our press passes and was ghost. And boy let me tell you, it didn't take us long before the silly antics came out, and we started conducting a little photo shoot of our own. Here's just a few of those that made the editors cut, enjoy them at your leisure.
